Truck Problems
Question:
Ok I put anti jell fuel solution in my tanks and went out to start the sucker up. It was dead to the bone, now my company wants me to leave it parked at the T/S while I am on T/O. I know my batteries are going bad, because I had to jump it a few times. I don't think I waited to long to put the solution in, but Hoss think you can help me out here. Peace and Good Will, NO NO Answer: Do you have power and does it crank but not start? How cold is it? Did you run the truck for about ten minutes after adding the anti-gel? Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. Answer: Hmmmm ok over exaggeration...ok it won't crank and the gauge is reading well below 12 so I know it's the battery. Yes I let it run after I added the stuff. Now I have to call my dispatcher.... fun fun Peace and Good Will, No No Answer: that sounds like what it is. I had the same problem with one truck I had. If I shut the truck off for more than 12 hours, during the summer, it wouldn't start and had to be jumped. The big problem was when it was in the shop the batteries would show "good" but they were being tested immediately after the truck was shut down. Finally after paying for three jump starts they finally decided to put in a new set and no more starting problem. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. Answer: Had a set of batteries like that , had a couple loose plates and as the batterie heated and expanded a bit they would short out same in the cold they contracted a bit and short out yet in the shop after sitting for a bit they showed good. Answer: Would you please explain how anti-gell has anything to do with the batteries? Answer: Sweet Whisky is a fairly new driver who knows next to nothing about trucks and was simply trying to cover all the bases as to why her truck wouldn't start. Give her a few more months and she will probably know more than the average company shop tech. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. Answer: Not Hoss, but hasn't been cold enough in Ks. for fuel to cause any problems. However, if batteries are showing below 12 on starting attempts, the following come to mind; Cooler or other 12 volt appliance plugged in, draining batteries. Even a c.b. will do it if it sits long enough. Bad connections or connections that are corroded. Solution: disconnect and clean posts and cable ends. Bad battery or batteries. Bad starter-yes children, this will yank your batteries down in a heartbeat. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
