idling
Question:
do many companies allow idling or does a person wake-up in a freezer or sweat box depending on the season? i've read here something about heat blankets so i'm thinking idling is looked at like a waste of fuel by the companies. if you cant idle are you really getting good rest? Answer: It is true that when you idle you do waste fuel but I am not going to burn up in the summer nor am I going to freeze in the winter.A lot of company's are real strict on truck idle. You really use your on judgement.About the heat pad I turn my on in the winter a few hours before I go to bed and pull up the cover that way I will have a nice and warm bed to get into.As for myself it all depends on the temperature if I idle or not.I love spring and fall can good some good sleep without hearing that truck run of course they are some driver's who never shut there truck off Answer: do companies really keep track if you idle? have you heard of drivers getting fired for this?i guess that might become part of the job search. if its freezing or baking out i would like to keep the tractor comfortable since you have to spend soo much time there. Answer: Yes they can keep track of your over idle through th e Q-com among other things you do such as over speed over rpm and whole bunch of other stuff. "A choice between doin' ten years, and takin'out some stupid !@#$,ain't no choice at all." Mr.White (Reservor Dogs) Answer: and will either terminate a driver for excessive idling or make it so that he wants to quit. It never hurts to ask about the idling policy when talking to a recruiter. The majority of companies though ask the driver to use common sense. Most policies go like this: If you need to run the truck to be comfortable in order to get a good rest then do so, if not or if you are out of the truck shut it off except when the temp drops below zero. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. Answer: Opti - idle Use It I Think Most Major Carriers Have ItOn their Trks. Answer: WSE has a idling time, but since my batteries were zonking out on me I kept it running for a few nights straight. I never really got over 40% and with the old t/d they really don't say much and I am sure with me and my situation they won't either. I mean -5 degree weather and -15 windchill I seriously doubt they will do much about it. Peace and Good Will, NO No Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
