CRST Info
Question:
I recently got accepted to go to training with CRST and join their company as a team driver. Since I am brand new to the industry, can anyone shed some light on CRST. I did check the archives, but most of them are really old and outdated info. I would appreciate recent info from anyone that has experience with them. I appreciate all feedback. Thanks.

Thanks for the update. I am just curious if I can earn a living driving the first year. I have seen many posts about how they will keep the team running hard and then I see some bad posts, but honetly I dont see as many bad posts about them as I do other newbie style carriers. I am simply looking to be able to bring home $500/week and see the wife and kids every few weeks for the first year. Then I can look around and find a carrier that is better suited to my needs since I will have at least a year of OTR and a few miles of experience.
Its hard to get info on them such as do they have in-cab email, how does your home time work if your team mate doesnt want to go home when you want to. Just minor questions, thats all. I commute to my current job for 1.5 hours each way and I look at every truck I see and I will say that the CRST trucks always seem to be clean and newer models, but I also dont see as many of them as I do other carriers. Well, thanks again, I will keep browsing through the archives in search of info.

All I know is that you can expect to spend three to four weeks on the road at a time with CRST, and then get something like 1.5 days off for every week out.
As far as your other questions you might want to talk to the recruiter and just see what they say. The one I talked to wouldnt tell me anything beyond "The lead driver will drop you off and then pick you up when the truck goes home".
Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe.

I too have been accepted by CRST. Working with a recruiter by the name of Sam (last name witheld). Fairly straightforward guy. Called just yesterday to see how things were going: Stated that he is not pressuring me or hounding me just wanted to touch base with me. Honestly I think he wanted me to answer some questions for him from a Navy friend of his. I just retired after 20 years.
As for time off as stated to me 20 days out 5 days in. They also have a 20/10 program after 3 months of safe employment. 3 drivers 1 truck, 20 days out, 10 days home. Their is no lead driver, both drivers are considered co-drivers. Drivers of the truck determine amongst themselves where the truck goes during hometime. They are a DAC company and they do offer training, for me in Little Rock. You need to sign a contract for one year obligated service to them after training.

I am still weighing my options. I got my acceptance packet from Millis yesterday and I am really considering them at this point. I also got accepted by Willis-Shaw. SO now I am looking for the best package that will suit my needs. It's funny that I finally got several companies to accept me now because the first place I tried was Schneider and after the interview they decided that they werent going to offer me a position at this time and wouldnt comment on why. I came right out and asked them what about my background isnt suited for them, I am a Veteran, solid work history for the past 16+ years, not one single incident on my MVR at all, I am very personable and professional person and I was actually shocked when they told me that they wouldnt offer me a position, I know they have them because the recruiter told me they were happy to have me applying due to my location.
But enough of that, I think I got some offers now from much better companies and I look forward to making this career change and hope to see you all out there soon. I plan to go to training in early Arpil. BOL to you!
