Road Stories.
Question:
Ok, drivers I am interested in hearing some stories from your first or most rememorable load. I am very interested in the trucking industry, I would like to know some of the things I should expect from the trucking industry. The companies I would like to work for are SNI, Werner, Roehl, Crete, Us.xpress, in that order. Hopefully I can get on with SNI, as a newbie for a year, then move on to Crete.
Let me leave with saying this, I admire all of you guys/gals who continue to keep our country rolling. Thanks alot..

Here is one you might be interested in reading. It's from the site that Shuffler suggested.
"A trucker sees the world as a series of pictures passing by him at 55mph (yeah, right!) . Ride with Tim on this run from Seattle, Washington to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and share the scenery along the way."

Answer:
But you asked for it
I had been upgraded from a student to a solo driver for only about 2 weeks when I hit snow in a big truck for the first time and while pulling a 53 foot trialer with only 4,000 lbs in the box. It was in PA and I was on I99 going from the turnpike up to I80 to make a delivery. Originally the weather forcast was only calling for flurries on my intended route but as I got higher up the mountain the more snow I encountered. By the time I started down the other side more than 8 inches was on the ground and it was still coming down. To make it even more fun the interstate ended and became a two lane US route and when I finally got to the town I was delivering to I ended up making a worng turn and wound up on a one lane rural, snow covered road with 6 and 7 % grades, and no where to turn around of course. After making several near impossible left and right hand turns I managed to find my way back to the route (Amazing how wide a two lane road looks after being on a country road) and made it to my destination. Good thing it was night because if I had gotten a real good look at the ditches on either side of that country road I might have just parked it and walked home to Illinois.
Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe.
