Walmart Driver/ Dedicated drivers
Question:
When you drivers leave the Distribution center and deliver to the stores, do you return empty or do you go to a wharehouse and pick up a load and return it to the Distribution center. How does it work. I was just trying to figure it out. As a driver do you keep the smae tractor or do you slip seat when you have time off. Walmart is a very nice company, I like the way i have seen and heard things are run. I might try to get on with that account once i get some experience. Thanks drivers and have a nice day. Keep all 18 rolling safley. Answer: Give it up my man Wally drivers dont talk to low life OTR drivers. Ya might get one to say good morning to you as you cross the parking lot but ya lucky if they do. "A choice between doin' ten years, and takin'out some stupid !@#$,ain't no choice at all." Mr.White (Reservor Dogs) Answer: Give it up my man Wally drivers dont talk to low life OTR drivers. Ya might get one to say good morning to you as you cross the parking lot but ya lucky if they do. Wonder why that is? Must be a "class"envy thing. Steelcase drivers have the same attitude wonder why?"Class envy"again? Funny how appearence has an effect on peoples attitudes toward others. Mike _________________ Mike Answer: No, a unwriten Wally rule. If you work for them you do not talk to the outside world about your job to anyone that is from the outside. Keeps the Union influence away. When you go to work for Wally the first thing they tell you is. No union talk, dont talk to the union, and no union publications. If you do you will and are fired. If you have one Wally driver standing around talking to a bunch of regular OTR drivers and another Wally driver spots this the other driver could be reported back to Wally and this standing aound could be union talk said driver loses job. Better to stay within the group so there is no chance of misunderstanding and the unemployment line. "A choice between doin' ten years, and takin'out some stupid !@#$,ain't no choice at all." Mr.White (Reservor Dogs) Answer: Wal Mart drivers do things several different ways depending on the route they are running. Some deadhead directly back to the DC with empty trialers or do back hauls from the stores with pallets and other returns the stores have built up for a time. Other drivers will go to some factory or warehouse and pick up a load on the way back from a store. And others yet rarely if ever see a store as they make runs to the factories and back. Wal Mart freight, at this time anyway, is 100% no touch for Wal Mart drivers. They do require that you live within so many miles of the DC you run out of and require 3-5 years of OTR experience with a perfect driving record. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. _________________ Answer: this standing aound could be union talk said driver loses job. How can they do that? Unless something has changed, it's not against the law to talk about a union, but it certainly is to fire someone for it. 73, de KJ5KX Answer: Dont know about that but they do warn you and will fire you for any and all union activity. Day one of company orientaton you will be told that. Talking about unions, is as far as they think, is union activity. Wally runs a tight ship, will stomp on, under bid, move any and all people, and businesses, out of the way. In the quest to become even bigger than they are now. Government turns a blind eye to almost everything they do. "A choice between doin' ten years, and takin'out some stupid !@#$,ain't no choice at all." Mr.White (Reservor Dogs) Answer: Why people live their life as if everything (excepted what they do) is a conspiracy against them is beyond me! If it is big or bigger then them, it must be a conspiracy! I guess that’s why drivers are willing to work for half of nothing. IT’S SOMEBODY ELSE’S FAULT! Answer: It is against the law for an employer to fire an employee, or reprimand the employee in any way shape or form for talking about unions or attempting to organize a union or for voting yes in an union election. Having been Wal Mart management in a previous life I can tell you that while the company does not want to see unions in any way in their company the managers are on a VERY short leash as far as what they can say against unionizing. Basically they are limited to stating truths such as the union can not garuntee a person better pay or benifits, that it is possible pay could get cut, and to explaining all the "good" things an employee has now without a union. Thats it. These guidelines are set forth for anyone in any type of supervisory position including department managers and orientation staff and these people are warned that violation of these policies on how to deal with union talk will result in disciplinary action which includes being terminated. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. _________________ Answer: Dang ya all better get to Gainsville,TX and tell all that to Wally there. Besides they know better than to fire you for union acivity they just find something else to fire you for. Like bad trucking companies will fire you for various things, but they call it something else when they tell you, why they are canning you. Refuse to run illegal= unproductive driver, problem driver, not a team player, high maintenace driver, bad attitude, and or a unsafe driver whatever it takes to get you out in a legal way but never for the real reason. Union activity= unproductive worker, problem worker, not a team player, high maintenace worker, bad attitude so on and so forth. "A choice between doin' ten years, and takin'out some stupid !@#$,ain't no choice at all." Mr.White (Reservor Dogs) Answer: Gee, what I see these days, makes me think that NOTHING a driver says or does gets drivers fired at most companies!!! Answer: You just aren't trying hard enough IRR!!! Answer: Originally posted by Safety Guy: You just aren't trying hard enough IRR!!! Darn I've tried every way in the book.... And I can't get fired! Now back to my point. Look around and watch how some of these guys drive, run over things, always show up late. In addition, the one’s that look like pigs and so does their trucks. Looks to me like anybody that can halfway spell truck can get a CDL and be driving and crashing forever! Answer: The January cover story in roadSTAR magazine discusses the issue of people being fired over union talk, among other things. 73, de KJ5KX Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
