Monthly & annual mileage bonuses for drivers
Question:
Are monthly and annual mileage bonuses standard throughout the trucking industry? When comparing pay rates, it would make a difference. If a company paid a lower flat mileage rate, but gave monthly and annual bonuses, it could work out to more money per mile that a company that paid a higher rate per mile with no bonuses. Just curious. Answer: A lot of the big companies give a mileage bonus. First off they have to be obtainable. If they give you a great bonus but you can't get the mileage it's worthless. Another thing to think about is the company controls your mileage. If they don't want to pay the bonus you'll never see it. Also being new you have even less of a chance hitting a mileage bonus. One other problem is what you have to do to get the bonus. How hard will you need to push yourself for a few cents a mile. Is it worth it? You far better off going with a company that offers a good mileage pay, something you can count on. Along with good benefits. I prefere knowing what I'm getting and not pushing to meet some goal. Good Stuff "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of all who threaten it" _________________ RC Universe Answer: I get .39cents a mile. Anything over 27,000 miles in a quarter is bonus money .20cents per mile up to $1000 it's like getting a extra paycheck every 3 months. The most i've ever made was $800.00. Brian P.S. I cracked the 50,000 dollar mark for the 1st time in my 19 years of driving a Truck. Answer: Do offer some sort of milage or other performance bonus (IE fuel bonus). Many of these though are next to impossible to obtain, and many of these companies seem to use them as an "excuse" to pay drivers less per mile than companies that do not offer bonuses. Now I am not saying all companies are doing this but I have seen a great deal that are. You are far better off looking for a company that offers a good pay package from the start without having to worry about trying to get a "bonus" to make it worth working for them. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. _________________ Answer: A trucking company I had worked for had a bonus scheme that if all the drivers did extra deliveries and pick-ups by a certain date we would all share in a bonus.I was a bit sceptical, but a lot of the sheep mentality of other drivers started bleating how this would work. The razzamatazz of sales graphics and pep talks every week showing that the bonus was on target with a large whiteboard displaying the goal was going to be reached and exceeded had the sheep workers in a frenzy of how they would be going to spend their big bonus etc. Surprise surprise just before the goal date the whiteboard mysteriosly dissapeared and on the date of the bonus management said"Too bad didnt meet the bonus, try harder next time" Then 6 months later the same bonus scheme was touted again and cynicly I asked other drivers that this was another bonus scam that will get you to forgo pay and benefiets to chase an ungettable quota, but at least this time they all caried on like goldfish, with a memory span of 2 minutes, and all went bleating again about how they were going to spend their bonus etc,and believed management. Bonus = Bogus Answer: It's best to look at the "Base Pay" instead of the Bogus "Bonouses". That way if you happen to make the bonous...FINE. And if you Don't make it it's still.....FINE. At least you are Not going to have to run illegal to make a descent paycheck & you won't have to "push" yourself very hard just to make it. -------------------------------------------------------------- Look at it this way.... If these so-called "bonouses" were so easy to achieve & obtain, they would Not be called "bonouses"...b/c EVERYONE would automatically get them as "Regular" Pay. Soooooo, that right there should tell you that there is Some Kind of a "CATCH" to it. Answer: i feel fortunate at this company, so far i been getting the bonuse...they r: over 2500 a week, get an extra .01 over 2800 a week, get an extra .02 over 3000 a week, get an extra .03 2501= 25.01 2801= 56.02 3001= 90.03 my base rate is .27 a mile, sorry zig i think its nice but me being new might not see a flaw in it, so if the vets want to reply, i'd appreciate it. this weeks bonus was 91.07 5 days on 2 days off Death To All Extremist Muslims [This message was edited by spawn on February 03, 2003 at 19:12.] Answer: the above post don't say what the standard rate per mile is,so even with the bonus, the poster might not be making squat for all we know the standard rate could be .23cpm They enlisted the Teamsters’ help after the company decided that it would no longer pay them hourly wages but compensate them based on mileage, which would have cut their income in half http://www.teamster.org/03news/hn_030110_1.htm _________________ TruckNets Jobs.Truck.Net Online Application Click here Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
