ABS ?
Question:
While driving North on Hwy 41 to Appleton Wi, I encountered somewhat slippery conditions I was pulling an empty trailer with a 98 Peterbuilt when all of a sudden the ABS light came on. I pulled into the nearest rest area an checked my connections the brakes were fine yet the warning light stayed on. Any ideas ?? Thanks Answer: Hauler, I experienced the same thing with a new(er) Volvo. I was advised by the shop guys at my home terminal to simply shut the rig down and fire her back up (something of a re-boot, if you will)... "it's just an electrical glitch; not a bonafide brake problem that'll have you skidding down the road." It always took care of the problem (light didn't come back on when I restarted the power). But you might want to check with the mechs at your own shop. I know this doesn't give you a complete and satisfactory answer, but at least someone else has seen the problem, too. Answer: Thanks, I should have mentioned that I did just that on my post trip. I shut it down while I was fueling up and when I started it up it was still on. Answer: a Volvo I drove and the shop found a froze up sensor at one of the drives. They took it apart, cleaned it up and the problem went away. Not sure about your truck but our shop showed me how to access the Volvo's diagnostic system via buttons in the cab that showed which wheel they needed to look at. Pretty cool.
