Where can I find average lenght of haul for Carriers?
Question:
Once saw a page on the net that had the average lenght of haul for all Carriers, but can't find it now. Does anyone know where this info is on the net? Southern Refrigerated Trans "SRT" claims a 1200 miles average length of haul, and is apparently owned by Covenant! oh, oh... (red flag just went up) and by reading Stevens internet page they apparently have many, many stops.. Would like to find a Carrier with a long average length of haul and few stops or deliverys. Onramp does it in on the Ice, slush and snow.. Answer: if they have no teams it might mean something,if they have teams,it will mean nothing. a carrier with a lot of short haul dedicted stuff, will have a lower average length of haul, but a driver running the system will have a higher lenght of haul Finding other drivers like Cyanide that will give you real numbers is almost impossable.Crete sent me a printout about how I was doing when I was with them and my average was way different than other drivers. You want to find out the truth about companies, ask their drivers.catch them at their trucks and than when they start telling you how great it is,ask to see their log book or payroll receipts,if they ain't blowing smoke up your butt, they should have no problem showing you, when they get a bonus for recruiting you.Alwaye be awhere that you my be talking to a company pet that gets the cream off the top,so find a few drivers to prove what they say.Ask to check their qualcomm if they have one. When I was leased to Crete and a company driver would start the crap that they gave o/o's the better runs,I always offered the above info, non of them ever checked it out,it sure shut them up fast when I called their B/S to the mat. My average load at werner was 500 miles,I bet the companies average load is longer.I got some longer ones that upped my average lenght of haul, but most of them where short. It can also be deceiving two 2500 mile loads and ten 500 mile loads is 10,000 miles and 12 loads or 833 average lenght of haul.so you could spend 2 weeks busting your butt and 2 weeks trucking easy. Reefer companies have longer average loads than dry box companies. They enlisted the Teamsters’ help after the company decided that it would no longer pay them hourly wages but compensate them based on mileage, which would have cut their income in half http://www.teamster.org/03news/hn_030110_1.htm _________________ TruckNets Jobs.Truck.Net Online Application Click here Answer: Can be very very deceptive. Even if that company runs all solo or all teams the average haul can still be misleading. The company may have two trucks and two runs. The 1st is 2000 mi and the second 500 miles and the avg length of haul would be 1250, but when you go and hire on it would probably be the 500 mile you would see as the rookie to the company. While it is nice to have weeks where you get a nice long trip or two it is better to look at the big picture. Ask about that accesorial pay for short hauls, extra stops, and some companies may even offer a "bonus" for running more than X amount of loads in a week. Also find out if those short hauls are majority drop and hook or live unload which can make a big difference in the check at the end of the week. I know I have had some weeks where I never got more than 1200 miles but due to accessorial pay I ended up with pay checks that looked like I had driven 2500+, and I never had to work past 7 pm on any given day with a start fo around 8 am. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. _________________ Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
