GEARS HELLLLP !!
Question:
WHAT IS THE INDUSTRY STANDARD ON NUMBER OF GEARS TRACTORS USE THESE DAYS [This message was edited by wild_canuck on January 23, 2003 at 00:23.] Answer: Most training companies like Swift (and the others), use 9 speed or 10 speed trannys. A few use the auto-shift trannys also. Answer: Yeah, you probably won't get the pleasure of a twin stick! are we there yet? Answer: School i went to had two Kenworths, one 13 and one that had been converted from 13 to 9. Answer: Werner is running mostly super 10s. USX is moving to completely autos. Kinda depends on what you consider "industry standard." Answer: CFI has auto shifts. I don't know how many. But if you look at their used trucks.... Answer: I have heard from a few CFI drivers that CFI is going back with manuals on their newest truck order. I can't actually prove this is happening seeing that I am not a CFI driver. Its gotta suck to be the people who have trained on an auto and have to go back driving a manual. I have also heard that CFI is loosing alot of their teams because of this.
