Time to go to work
Question:
I used this forum about four years ago as my initiation into trucking. I attended a PTDI school and then drove OTR with Shuffler's company for 6 months. I must have been born with diesel in my veins because I loved the job. Unfortunately, I had a wife that could always spend more than I could make so I took a much higher paying job not driving. I always knew I would get back to the road, but just did not know when. Now I know. I am attending a refresher training course in February for 50 hours of training. The recruiters at USA and SRT said the refresher was enough to get on with them. I have no delusions about the job, I expect to start at the bottom and work my up the food chain. I have some limited experience with reefers and would eventually like to drive for a company like Shaffer or Marten, but I think I will need at least a year of experience for that move. I know the posters on this site are full of opinions and experience so I would appreciate any and all the input about my situation. Thanks for keeping a dream alive, Sailtrucker Answer: Hello Sailtrucker, and from what I read you seem to have the direction and the focus on what you need to do. Keep the attitude you have and push forward. Working your way up the ladder is always hard but better for ya. Also if this is what you really want to do don't let anybody tell you differant. Keep your ears open theres a ton of good info out there . Just trying to seperate the crap from the good is the hard part. The best of luck to you. seeee yaaaa sandpiperx Answer: The first lesson: That's Truckin' Just got the news today that Millis wants me to run with them. The opportunity to go through their school and then drive with a good company is too much to pass up. I will still attend the refresher training just to get more driving time, but then on to Hamilton on March 3rd. Tnraven, FlimFlam, Razz, current Millis drivers any comments or advice??????
