Wanna-be got some questions
Question:
I'm looking into driving and right now I'm down to four different jobs: 1)Schneider 2)Millis Transport (read other thread) 3)US Express 4)Celedon (Minimum three months exp.) Which of these companies seem to be the best. Schneider and Millis are realy close in my opinion. However I don't have alot of info from USX. What is wrong with pulling reever vans? I'm sure I can think of more. I've talked to Schneider drivers at truck stops. Didn't find any unhappy ones really. I haven't talked to anyone from The other three. I see alot of Celedon, USX, Schneider trucks around my area. I haven't looked for Millis (just found out about them). I went on a trip once driving class B on my permit to get some experience but didn't like the turkey business and bailed. I had to unload the truck 100% of the time. I know all of the beginning companies are pretty much the same but which one really stands out? That is what I'm trying to figure out. Answer: What is a good company for one person may be total hell for another. You need to figure out what is important to you, and how imprtant each item is and then find the company you feel will come closest to meeting your needs. I can provide you with a little info about a few of these companies. Millis: If you already have your Class A CDL but no experience by pass them. They require all new drivers to attend their driving school. Otherwise you need 1 year experience to qualify for employment. UsXpress: The biggest "drawback" if you will with this company is the 100% use of auto shift transmissions. There is nothing wrong with an auto shift except learning on one may cause problems later should you switch to a company with manual trans. Since you are still in the checking out stages might I suggest you check out these companies if you havent already. Willis Shaw Express Roehl Schaffer Crete What is wrong with pulling a refridgerated trailer? Absolutely nothing. I will always be a mutter trucker at heart. Answer: Out of your list, I'd go with SNI. They're probably the best to learn the ropes with - and usually treat drivers very well. Answer: Out of the list you provided.....those are the 2 I vote for. BTW....there is Nothing Wrong with pulling a REEFER. As a matter of fact, I would Rather pull a REEFER.(Less Time spent Waiting for a load assignment.) Answer: 1 or 2 celadon,I was never the least bit impressed with the people they had driving for them USX heavy on teams, you might end up be a gopher for the teams. Schneider may offer you a good chance of getting a regular run considering where you live.Big Al went with Millis and is still with them and it has to be around 2 years now. Alexandria, VA, June 8, 2003 - Robert Hirsch, president of the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) today expressed disappointment that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rejected a pilot program aimed at the trucking industry's critical and growing driver shortage. -------------------------- Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
