Question:
When you have your truck pulled in over night do you get an accurate reading on your oil level if not how can you check it or when would be the best time? Answer: You should check your oil "cold".(before you start it up...after it's been sitting for awhile.) Check Anti-Freeze/Coolant level while vehicle is running. Same thing goes for your personal auto at home. Answer: "... You should check your oil "cold"...." That's correct, to get the most accurate reading. But it shouldn't preclude checking it anytime you suspect it could be low. If it's low when the engine's warm, add the oil. Don't keep driving and wait till it's cold to double check your stick reading -- it won't be much different, and you'll do more damage running low on oil than running a little over. Trucks hold a lot of oil. A quarter-inch on the dip stck may mean you're down a full gallon -- a gallon the engine needs to prevent excessive wear. Answer: I used to slip seat with two other drivers, now I am the only driver and I average between 400 and 500 miles a day and as I check the level it hasn't changed, so I thought because it was warm I wasn't getting an accurate reading so I thought I would ask here to see if it made a difference. Thanks Answer: What I do every time I stop and fuel I pop the hood and check the vitals dont forget the washer fluid very important in bad wheather and dirty salty roads. aman Answer: And don't lose it! Answer: I agree. After the truck has been sitting for a few hours with the engine shut off is the BEST time to check the oil, but shutting the engine down and waiting about 5 minutes will also give you a fairly accurate reading as most of the oil will have drained back into the pan. (Same goes for your car). If the oil shows on the dipstick at or below the add line go ahead and add a gallon of oil and check it again. (Most trucks are set up that when the oil level is right at the add line it is 1 gallon low). Wait a few mintues and check your oil level again. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
