It's not worth it!
Question:
http://www.kcstar.com/item/pages/home.pat,local/3acd367e.c16,.html Yes this story is over a year old but something newbies might want to read...or anyone for that matter. It's just not worth it so park it if your too tired. Once your body gets to a certain point it WILL shut itself down and there is nothing you can do about it. Peace! Xpresser "ONE LIFE" Answer: Investigators discovered that Johnson hadn't made any entries in his logbook in eight days. They also found 17 overhours violations during the 16 days he had filled out his logs. In June, Johnson pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and admitted that he had fallen asleep. _______________________________________________ Jarrel Wood says he thinks Johnson's company shares the blame. "He was just trying to make a living, but these companies will push them just as far as they can," he said. "I am very unhappy with the company. If he wasn't filling out his logbooks and turning them in like he should have, they should have fired him." Records from the U.S. Department of Transportation show that Johnson's company, Lawrence Transportation, had a compliance review on Nov. 29, 2000, just a month after the crash, in which it received a satisfactory rating. But the records also show that in 1997, the company settled 28 counts of false reports of drivers' records-of-duty status and paid a $10,000 fine. The company takes safety seriously and does not push its drivers beyond their limits, a company official said. Sixty days for vehicular manslughter...good thing he didn't run over a dog or it would have been twenty years. Hopefully, this person (he is not a driver) should have his CDL pulled and that carrier shut down, but it won't happen as it is part of the job and things happen. Unbelievable... Answer: The dopes that need to hear the message won't see it here, they are to busy trucking and worrying about if their radio is making enough noise.BEEP They enlisted the Teamsters’ help after the company decided that it would no longer pay them hourly wages but compensate them based on mileage, which would have cut their income in half http://www.teamster.org/03news/hn_030110_1.htm _________________ TruckNets Jobs.Truck.Net Online Application Click here Answer: You are prob right, but hopfully it might make that newbie think twice before becoming another super trucker. Only two things I know of are infinite. The universe and human stupidity, and I am not real sure about the universe. _________________ Answer: That is a good reminder of the troubles in the trucking industry today. Back in the "good ol days", I was one of the biggest offenders of hours of service. NOW I am one of the biggest supporters of inforcement of the hours of service laws. The trouble is, THE LAW ENFORCEMENT PEOPLE, find it easier to get the trucker, than the company. Just like the INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE, it is easier to go after the tax payer working for cash, perdiem, or a number of other illegal pay schemes. When will this country wake up and go after the real offender?
