Has anyone ever had an accident?
Question:
Before driving truck (like me, just starting out and worried if it will make a difference to carriers considering it happened 4 years ago? ) or had one while driving a company truck OTR?
What happened to you with an accident?
Hey, if life throws you a curve ball, try and take a swing at it. Who knows what might happen

Answer:
The only thing that ever has happened to me was last year I hit a water shut off valve that was suspended from the cieling while trying to back into a garage dock.
As far as your accident goes Midnight. As long as you were not charged with leaving the scene, hit and run, got issued a DUI with it, and if it is the only one it is not going to matter one bit.

Uturn2001, sorry to hear something like that happened. Did you get into any trouble for it? My accident was from an improper turn at a intersection. I did't get charged for it at all, it wasn't because of DUI and I stayed at the scene the entire time . The only one that went to the hospital was me and that was for minor cuts. Once again did you get into any trouble for hitting that water shut off valve ?

Answer:
No trouble. I stayed. Reported it to both the onwer of the warehouse as well as to my company, took pics etc. There was no serious damage to anything. (Only the valve was damage at all) That valve was the type that would cost less than $50 to replace, including labor. It also helped that I was able to get signed statements from the maint people and the yard driver where this happened stating that the valve was being replaced at least once every 3-6 weeks from being hit by trailers, and more often than not it is by the yard drivers who know its there.
It was more embarrassing than anything else.
I will always be a mutter trucker at heart.
