Question:
I am trying to get into a lease purchase program and would appreciate any help i can get thanks Answer: "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Do a search for those phony things and see what you'll come up with. There ain't even ONE good thing about a "lease/purchse". Stay a company hand.... Head Warrior, TFBU On The Mend..... Answer: 'nuff sed already. Answer: Don't do it. It doesn't matter HOW MUCH you want to own your own truck -- if you don't have credit good enough to buy one the right way, you'll NEVER get the financial benefit of ownership by "renting to own". ANY outfit that offers lease-to-own has NO INTENTION of letting you complete the purchase over time. At least, the successes are so far and few between, it's just a given these days that these offers are all rip-offs. I've yet to meet a driver who actually finished buying a truck this way. I've met several who threw their money down the drain trying to comply with a contract they couldn't possibly comply with. At the very least, hire a lawyer for an hour or two to review the contract and explain it to you. You may be stunned by what the fine print and careful wording really says in a typical "lease to own" truck contract. . During this time save money, learn everything you can. Talk to lots and lots of drivers face to face not on the C.B Think about this! Forget anything else for now! If you make one person mad, they can sit you enough to starve you out fast. Get 2000.00 behind. You ain't coming back. you will have no power to move the truck to anthor company(there is a reason for this). After that when you run the numbers. It just don't add up. It with have to be a signifacent profit to justify the sacrafice. Take the advice given to you here and learn all you can in the next few years. Save your money and pay cash for a good used truck with a warranty in 5 years. Lease Purchase programs are designed for the people that actually own the truck, NOT the guy signing on the dotted line. Answer: Buying a truck from a company is the last thing you need to do.You get to collect truck payments, even while your on vacation. And if the company doesnt give you enuff miles, you cant leave with the truck. You give the truck, and all the money, to the company, and down the road you go. If you have the O/O itch, go to work for a guy that has 10 trucks or something. RC Proud to be a Truck Dweller! Answer: If you really DO have 22 years and 3,000,000 miles, why would you suddenly have the overwhelming desire to do an L/P?????????? How about clarifying what it is you want to do?? Head Warrior, TFBU On The Mend..... Answer: I am trying to find a way back into trucking. I had three beers on Dec. 16 1999 and was stopped by a police officer who had an axe to grind with me. He wrote me a dwi because I had drank those three beers in 1 and 1/2 hrs. I have been ban from the job I was born to do ever since.there is no other job I can do that satisfies me out here. some drive for the money out here but, I also drive because it is in my blood and I love to drive. I am thinking that if I could get my foot in the door I could do what I love to do..I know that most of you out there are thinking this guy is totally nuts but I am a driver...nuf said... Answer: Well, one way to get back in is to buy your own rig outright--don't "lease purchase it." And get your own authority and customers and you're back in. In other words, start your own trucking company. Of course this will require quite of bit of planning and strategy. Another way is to drive for a small owner-operator. This will take some searching--perhaps you might post some notices in truckstop waiting rooms. Caution: some O/O's do not pay in a timely manner--cash flow difficulties you know. There may be a few companies that will hire people with DWI's. I will look into this, as I bump into old "ghosts" from the past every now and then. *Note--do not take my word as law.
