Answer:
I worked for Palmer for 1 month. Some good and bad points.
They run legal on their dispatch, you have time to get to where your going. Their safely and equipment maintanence is top notch. When you take your tractor in for it's service they go over it like an Indy crew, they even fill the windshield washer. They go over that truck competely.
They have a good customer base and freight base so you'll not sit waiting on loads. They keep you moving steady. They run mostly midwest, west, and southern regions, very little north east freight.
They work to get you home without you having to beg. Dispatch follows your time out very closely and your looking at home time about every 14 days. Their pretty close to that time frame. They keep track of your hours on your log for you and only load loads that can match your hours in their computer. Everyday you enter your available hours on the qualcom.
The bad, they don't want you to idle the truck. Whether it's 95 degrees or 15 degrees it doesn't matter. If you idle, they find a way to get rid of you. Like a 7 day dispatch on a 2400 mile run. They'll threaten you on the Qualcom for it.
They run a fueling software program and will run you very low on fuel at times, especially on the I70 route out west.
Company policy, You must count "all" freight on and off the truck at "all" times. That means no sleeping while being loaded/unloaded. If your short, they can charge it to you.
You need two years experience and I think they start at 32cpm.
Overall, I liked working there except the idle policy and trying to run me low on fuel. The idle policy is what moved me out. If you idle, they don't want you working there. They'll make plans to force you out and quit.
