Thx to all!!
Question:
Thx to all that answered my e-mail inregards to Stevens, Cypress, Swift. I have one week left in school in Tampa, and on Friday I was also offered a position with Wil-Tans) I think this is actually Prime?? I am leaning toward Swift based on their pay starting out at .26 per mile and paying 100% of health insurance. Any thoughts?? Thx Patrick Taylor Answer: You'll hear all sorts of crap about Swift. But it's not a bad place to start, learn your craft, and build a good commerical driving record. If you can get along at Swift, do good work and maintain a good record, you've got the 'grit' that'll make you desirable to another employer down the road. During this time, you'll learn more about what kind of job charactistics are important to you. You may decide to stay at Swift - good security, benefits and decent pay - or you might jump for a faster, harder, riskier job with greater income opportunities. Good luck and keep us posted... Answer: Wil-Trans is a seperate company that leases about 150 trucks to Prime. BE PREPARED to give up family life and run extremely HARD. That's the only way Prime and it's lessors know how to do things. I'd STRONGLY recommend you quickly explore other options before agreeing to work for Wil-Trans. Just think about it and do what you feel is right...... Head Warrior, TFBU On The Mend..... Answer: but as far as I am concerned anything conected to Prime is bad news. You would be better off going with Swift I think if they are your only two choices. At least there you wont have to worry about any speeding tickets on the highway (except construction zones for the most part). Just remember that Swift is a training company and they make no bones about it and for the most part could care less if you stick around after about a year, but like already mentiioned it is a place to start and build your career and rep as a truck driver. I have a name not a number. I am not cheap but I am resonable. Answer: I remember the WilTrans recruiter from truck school. The only recruiter worse was Covenant's. Pushed VERY HARD the fact that their trucks would do the speed limit no matter what state you were in, and that when you were released solo you could pick the color of truck you wanted if it was available. Yep, that's what I want from the company I drive for. Benefits package not much to talk about either. Two different stages of training pay where you were getting paid mileage pay (I believe for a total of eight weeks; phase 1 was .08/mile, 2 was .12, then you'd make .24 upon solo release). Even had in their recruiting brochure that teams run 6-7,000 miles weekly and solos 3-3,500. Pretty ballsy to say that in black-and-white! You pull Prime's exceptional refrigerated freight network so I'm sure you can get those miles... "Pain is weakness leaving the body." "Nobody ever drowned in their own sweat." Answer: Wil-Trans, is a part of Prime,Inc. Wil-Trans' Contractors of the month(click here) Answer: Does Wil-Trans have a web site i know they used to have one but for got it was seperate from Prime site Just curious how thick they spread it on LOL of course the recruiters do not lie Answer: It looks as though Wil-Trans, is in the process of revamping their website. http://www.wil-trans.com/ Answer: I also went through a school in Tampa Fl. (Roadmasters back in 11/00) Wil tran redruiters came to our class, ditto on what skid row joe stated, Answer: Does anyone have any feedback about USA I got an offer from them this morning. Seems to be on the up&up, comparable to most of the large companys. james jacobs Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
