The things that make you go, oh $***
Question:
I'm about to become a driver and I have always wondered what is the dumbest thing a another truck driver can do to another truck driver and what is the dumbest thing that a four wheeler can do to a rig driver???, and what is the dumbest thing that someone has done to you on the road???

Answer:
I just want to know so when I go out on the road in four wheeler and eightteen wheeler I will know what to look out for and watch for and take into consideration on every trip.

Answer:
When on the expressway driving a big truck your in the granny lane with no one in front of you for 1/4 miles or so, you look around in all your mirrors, you see a 4 wheeler approaching, you check your gauges, look again back to the mirrors.
Just cruising down the road when that 4 wheeler you had an eyeball on starts to pass you, you keep going on down the road when all of a sudden that 4 wheeler jumps in front of you, you come up on an off ramp so you take your foot out of it, just knowing you will have to slow down or move over and the 4 wheeler just stops! Right there on the expressway! All the while you have been checking your mirrors and know that there is no traffic in the hammer lane so you gently slide over, and say Oh Sh**!
Or late into the night you are passing a big truck, your in a big truck too, when you notice that truck comming into your lane, or fixing to run off the road to his/her right. When you get on the radio and ask is that driver alright?
These are some things that happen all the time. So the mottos I try to live by is, always be prepared to STOP and always have an OUT.
Good luck out there

Answer:
A driver pulls your pin on the trailer to see if you will notice it. When I worked at schnider pulling tanks they would also spin open my valve. They never opened the saft lever, but this could be very dangerus.202 N Main Street

Expect every driver, be it 4 wheeler, big truck, bicyclist, whatever to do pull the dumbest, most suicidal stunt you can imagine right in front of you or right next to at all times.
That is why good trainers, schools, many safety departments, etc are always going on about space management and defensive driving. Know what is going on around you. Try to leave yourself an out if at all possible. Dont tail gate, and so on and so forth.
I will always be a mutter trucker at heart.

I'm pulling a hill on the PA Turnpike just after exit 1, and this black subaru comes pulling right up on me. It's three lanes and smokey has someone pulled over so I move over to the middle. The subaru jumps clear out into the hammer lane and blows up past me then hangs just off my left front corner. I saw it was a carload of kids so I expected something dumb. I signaled that I was going to merge to the right lane again, checked my mirrors, and when I looked back he was diving his car across my lane about 20 feet in front of me. He cut clear to the right lane and stood on the brakes. I rolled past him and then merged and he shot out to the middle lane and came back up past me to run a full circle around me.
This was like the third time I had driven a truck too. The driver that was with me screamed like a little girl when they did that. He thought for sure I was going to merge as he dove across and mash that little car.

Two things come to mind. The first one was when a 4 wheeler passed me in the breakdown lane coming down the northbound I-17 hill into Camp Verde, AZ. And the second one was in Wisconsin. This SUV passed me on the left, and when he came back over into the right lane he just kept right on going...off the road and almost into the woods. He realized his error and cut left to come back onto the freeway, only he hit the road edge at a bad angle and did a 360 and almost flipped it. The ordeal came to an end with the SUV facing me in my lane. All this happened about 100ft ahead of me. Lucky I got the rig stopped in time.

I don't know,I haven't seen it all yet,I'm sure tomorrow another one will do the dumbest thing I ever seen.
Alexandria, VA, June 8, 2003 - Robert Hirsch, president of the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) today expressed disappointment that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rejected a pilot program aimed at the trucking industry's critical and growing driver shortage.
