Schwerman Trucking Co.
Question:
I am considering starting to work for Schwerman Trucking. Does anybody have any pro's or con's? Any input is welcome. Answer: Investigating a company requires good planning on what questions to ask, and your intuition to sense deceit. Ask their driver "how long had you been pulling for this outfit?" If he/she replies less than one year, it indicates said company may be having turnover problems. Which begs the question, why are drivers quitting. If driver hesitates to answer, it may indicate they're trying to decide wether to tell you the truth or not. Another query is "you happy with the truck they've assigned you?" This will give you insight on how well they keep up maintenance on their tractors. Another forum you may consider to investigate a prospective company is any search engine. Go to Yahoo.com, or Google.com, and type "Schwerman Trucking" on the search box, and it will tell you if anyone had posted anything negative or positive about this outfit. I've only given two search engine websites; I'm sure there are several out there. Beware of drivers with alterior motives; these drivers will give positive feedback on their company saying "Why yes, I'm very happy working for this outfit. You should sign on because ... blah, blah, yada, yada, ..." and the driver goes on and on trying to convince you to sign on. He later ask for your full name. His intention is to collect on the company's driver referral bonus. Some companies will pay drivers $100 or more for referring a friend. You give your name as John Doe; he later calls up and say "my friend, John Doe, will be putting an application soon. Don't forget my referral bonus money." This driver referral bonus program is nothing more than an incentive for drivers to lie to prospective applicants. When they ask for your name, give them a fictitious name other than your real name.
