Cypress Truck Lines
Question:
Anyone have info on Cypress Truck Line out of Jacksonville, Florida? They have also taken a bite from me...along with USA....just want to make the right choice. Thanks Answer: Between the two? Go with USA. Cypress Truck Line has a bad reputation... With your recent felony, your employment opportunities with anyone is limited, you already know that. My advice would be to choose a larger carrier with a decent reputation that is willing to hire you, and stay with that carrier, don't job hop. With a recent felony and job hopping will be your down fall in any type of employment. Your going to have to establish a good reputation to climb up the ladder of success. That will take, time, diligence, commitment, on your part. You do not have the same options as other people in this matter, so your going to have to work smart.. USA trucking is a fairly large carrier, they run decent equipment, pretty good benefits, and YES ,you can succeed with USA. With Cypress Truck Line? Your odds are not good....dump them off your list. Let us know what other companies contact you..as they come in. Answer: I was searching through some websites the offer assistance to felons and ran into this ex-felon who helps other ex-felons find jobs and he is working for me trying to find to a company that will talk with me also, so as soon as i hear from him I will let you guys know so you can give me insight into them. The lady I talked to at USA said she can help me in November because of thats when I was actually convicted of my felony in 2002, she said it must be 5 years from the conviction date for them to hire. So if i decide to go with them I will re apply in November and find something to do until then LOL. Also I am just on the edge of their hiring area, I am so close if I lived across the street they wouldnt even talk to me...cut it very close. Answer: Yes, after 5 years, your options improve. Answer: some companies have told me to wait 5 years from the conviction date to apply if I was on probation, some dont care about the probation. Others have told me to wait until 5 years after my sentence was finished, which will be in 2009. So if i can get in with one these companies now...I can get my feet wet and get some experience under my belt and then apply and get a better job down the road. Answer: .(double post)http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/graphical/sect...onusWeek.php#tabs Answer: November is trucking's busy season before Christmas -- good time to get a job. But I wouldn't assume everything will go through with USA -- sounds like she just said that' when she can consider you, no promises of course. So you'll be sending all new applications then. I think checking out posibilities till the five years is up is a good way to go, but hold out for a fairly large company like dak said. I agree that staying with that first job a while will be more important for you than the average newhire, so wait for a company that's following the basic five year rule and is big enough to have a reputation you can check out -- just like you're doing in the meantime.http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/graphical/sect...onusWeek.php#tabs Answer: Thanks you guys...when I thought things were falling apart under me you guys are here to bring me back up and give me the motivation to keep on going.
