Super 10 tranny video....
Question:
Here is a video on how to drive the super 10. Found it online and I figured it would be good for those looking to get into driving. I found it informative. http://www.roadranger.com/ecm/groups/public/@pu...ent/ct_056130.wmv Answer: My memory may be a little vague, but,, didn't we call these Spicer 10 speeds back in the early '70's? What's the difference besides the size and placement of the button? Answer: A normal 10 speed lever shifts 1-2-3-4-5, Preselect HIGH range. Lever Shift 6-7-8-9-10. Then Down shifting 10-9-8-7-6 preselect LOW range Shift 5-4-3-2-1. The video shows the Super 10 which splits each gear, and automatically Range shifts between sixth and seventh gear. Answer: I dunno, Bill .. in the 70's the only Spicer I ever drove was a 2 stick 4x4 and an air shift 4x4. I also drove a 7 speed .... Spicer would not take the torque of a high power, (Cat 1693, etc), engine. If one was ordered behind such an engine, Spicer voided the warranty. The 10 speed, "auto shift" as described, is an automatic shifting of the top two gears. It was the precursor of all the auto shifts today. Answer: Monty, I could be wrong on it being a Spicer, but, just like the video on the Super 10, you split each gear. The one I drove was in a 73 or 74 International Transtar with a 318(8V-71N) Answer: Thanx for the video I'll keep it in my files. Answer: I've always liked the Super 10. A 13 speed although different is better. Answer: The best fuel mileage I've ever gotten out of a truck was with a Stupid 10 transmission. Annoying as all heck, though. Answer: GREAT link ! thanks Answer: Looks like it'll take alittle get'n used to.just have to stop playing with the range selector switch when sitting in traffic or at lights.I hate when I think I'm starting out in 2nd and find myself in 7th.grind,grind,shift.
