Question:
How does the gas and toll situations work. Is it all company paid or reimbursed? Is there a minimum amount to take out on the road for anything but food? I dont want to get to orientation and start the otr with a trainer and not having any money. This and any other help would be apprecaited.

Answer:
Both, fuel is paid by using a company fuel card. Com Data and TCH fuel cards are the most common and can be used to get advances from your company. Tolls are commonly paid for in cash and the company will reimburse you on your next paycheck after they have received the receipts. Of course that's a ripoff because you should never have to loan your company money but it's common and accepted by many drivers. Some, if not many, companies user toll passes. It's a transponder thats stuck on your window that allows you to not have to pay. That's the preferred method.
I would have an extra $100. with me. But in training your trainer should take care of truck expenses. Make sure you can pay for your personal expenses.
It's been a long time since I worried about tolls but working for a company that has toll passes(forgot what they're called) would be a priority of mine. I hate giving up my cash to pay company expenses.
