US Xpress
Question:
Ok all just want to give you the scoop on usxpress. After going 48 states and 2 months there my opinion is too stay away from them. They kept me out for 5 weeks and 3 weeks were on the east coast trying to get home. I talked to many usx drivers and most agree they suck. They treat their solos very bad. They fueling routes, directions, and driver managers are horrible. Now an exdriver for Swift at 60 mph ,Im a patient person but I had to litterally scream at my DM to get me a load going west. When I did get the load, They made me take it from another driver that lived in CA that was trying to get home and he was pissed.Rightfully so. Seriously I could go on and on about them .I dont feel their is enough info on this company for newbies here, thats the only reason I'm writing this. To warn them to stay away. And their is a reason they want new drivers to drive autotrannys. Ive been rehired by Swift and Im going back cause I would like to be a trainer. I would take the slow trucks anyday over an incompatant company like usx. P.s 2 of the weeks i was out I got 1000 miles per week. And now I have no christmas money thanks to usx. Answer: The reason I say that is because "life is a game". Their are a lot of common sense and intelligent people on this forum, that's why I visit and read so often. Wannabees are usually curious about how is OTR driving and experienced drivers usually say, "Trucking is what you make of it". That is common knowledge and it applies to any profession. I'm in the U.S. Army right now and really like my job, because its what I make of it. The reason I will be getting out is because the wife wants the kids to maintain a relationship with our parents, I agee. Since, the military does assign you to another country sometimes. And of course my family comes first. Okay enough said on that subject. How much do team drivers @ USXpress make after training phase? They tell you in advertisement they are team oriented, much like a CRST. The reason I mention team driving is because seems like companies will give "teams" majority of long haul(1000-1500 mile)loads which means more miles per week. Also, team drivers probably get more drop/hook loads as opposed to solo drivers. Think about it, the carrier's purpose is to keep the truck moving at least 20 hours a day. The problem with team driving is finding a decent partner. I accept positive/negative comments. Answer: Jonnyp , I agree it is what u make of it and believe me I do make the best of it. The reason I got into truck driving is to learn a trade thats in demand and not worry about job security. Unfortunely there is abuse in the trucking industry but then thats the price you pay to get experience. Usxpress pays their teams .25 per mile to split which isnt crap considering you have to share the truck with someone. Maybe its ok for husband and wifes but even the majority of them were'nt happy when I talked to them. Answer: nofxn40s (Teams Pay Scale) You mean to tell me after training team oriented Xpress pay .25 and Swift pays .32 a mile? I understand both are training companies but that is .7 difference. (Solo Pay Scale) After training Xpress start drivers @ .24, Swift pays .25 or .26 depends on east or west region, Schneider pays .25, Werner pays .24 (all have similiar starting solo pay scales). My reason for researching Xpress, Swift, and Werner was because of decent equipment companies(a must for me)because I would not want to be dealing with mechanical failures every week. And Schneider puts newbies in those cabovers, that must be an uncomfortable 6 months-1 year OTR drive. But, again those are the prices you pay for better driving jobs after a year or two. And we as wannabees/newbies have to understand those sacrifices. Answer: Ya , teams are 25 per mile. If you dont have experience I would stay away from usx. Originally I wanted to go with werner but they are very picky.None of the guys in my school got a response from werner. At usx they will take a solos good load and give it to a team driver which is real messed up. Schneider and JB hunt makes new drivers drive cabovers which alot of drivers hate. I know i didnt like it at all when I drove one once. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
