KLLM
Question:
I was asked to go down to orientation with KLLM,
It did not go well. This will be a some what biased opinion, but here goes the details.
I spent a day in a bus getting there...
My room mate couldn't sleep well, and woke me up the night I got in at 12:30 am.
I got another 30 minutes of sleep,
had coffee and smoked, in the morning, and I have high blood pressure, so I did not pass my blood presure test on there DOT physical...that was understandable, but still my fault.
Four others had the same problem, and the doctor said to come back tomorow.
I also have sleep apnia, of which I told them from the begining, they told me no problem, and that was all.
It seems I need to see a sleep doctor every year for follow up, to make sure I am being treated properly...I found this out after the doctor rejected my physical, along with one other with the same issue.
The doctor needed verification, and that was all, KLLM had me come to there terminal, in Hapeville, fill out another application, then at 11:00 am handed me a slip for another buss ride back home for 12 noon.
I told them that I had told the recruter about my sleep apnia, they said none of them were doctors, how could they know.
I told him that there was no way for me to get to the bus depoe in less than an hour, they told me if I missed the one at noon, the next one was for 9:35 pm.
They called a cab for myself and another that also was lacking documentation, of his sleep apnia. The cab arived at there terminal at 11:20.
I got a ride back to the motel at about 11:35. I asked the cab driver if he was waiting there for us to take us to the bus depot, and he said no and would have to get special permision.
I was packed and down in the motel loby by 11:50 am. The could not get a driver to me before noon.
I am not very happpy with KLLM! They told me that I got what ever I needed they would put me back on a BUS this next Tuesday, I told them it would never happen.
It is not just what happened, in hind sight I can see some of it, but the way they shoved me out the door, and not even a lunch, to go, was just rude.
They made a point of letting me know it was not there fault, and the door was not closed, but how could they think after that abrupt treatment I would ever come back.
The thing is also, that after the DOT, they made me come back and fillout more aplications, I told them, what was the point if I had failed the DOT test, they let me site there filling out paper work for an hour, the time I could have used to get to the bus depot in time.
THere was another let go, because of haveing a shunt in his heart valve, that he had told them about before.
There was another who had told them about a felony conviction from 27 years ago, that was ok until after he got to the terminal.
At least 4 people let go for mostly situations of which the company was aware of before hand and had approved.
You can try them if you like, but they are dirt in my mouth after this...ty

Answer:
PS yes there is more to it than that, like the driver with the felony charge from 27 years back, also had high blood presure, 140/96, but the others were all experianced drivers.
The driver with a felony had a ring from his previous employer for 5 straight years of safe driveing.

Answer:
Remember your treatment in the future and "Trucking is what you make of it".
Answer:
What you have experienced is not all that uncommon. Problems like that are numerous in this industry. One person says this, then the other says that, then another says something different.....and yet they all work in the same recruiting off and are supposed to be working from the same set of rules, procedures and templates.....but they do not.
Your best defense against this nonsense is to do 150% "due dilligence" before you ever make a commitment to a company. Research, research, research. And if a company makes a statement that they will allow this, or allow that, get it in writing. If you can't...then it is highly unlikely that they are telling the truth.
Its not hard to find out who the "bottomfeeder" companies are.....So I like what I do, you don't, too bad, get over it. Get on with your life, I am.
