Question:
trucking is a painful job!just started driving in July. After about my third or fifth week I picked up some back pain. Now it damn hurts real bad. Like shock waves down the lower part through the gluts and down right leg. When I get out of the truck it takes a while before I can get straight.. IM 43 and worked in a tire factory for the last 20 years till it shut down and went south of the border. Thought I would enjoy trucking, man this hurts .. oh,, nice board , I m really learning alot by reading the post here... thanksThe largest importer of Chinese goods in the world

Welcome to Truck.net.
You can do some things, to minimize your back pain.
Avoid sitting on your wallet. You may be able to find relief, just by shifting the wallet to the side.
Get a small pillow, to support the small of your back. Experiment with positioning.
Get more exercise.
Take aspirin for the tougher flare ups.Government Ain't YO' Friend. Nor your Servant.

Answer:
Back pain is probably among what drivers complain about most. I don't think I have met a driver who didn't have back pain.
But hey, it's what you make of it!
Answer:
Sounds to me like you have sciatica. There really isn't a whole lot that you can do for it. I think what causes it is when a disc presses against your sciatic nerve. That's what causes the pain down through your azz and into your thigh. I get it at least once a year. Usually goes away in about a month or so...
Answer:
Sit up "straight" in the seat while your driving. Don't recline the drivers seat, otherwise you'll be riding on your tail bone all day. keep the back of the seat almost 90 degrees.
Buy a AirHawk seat cushion

Gee Whiz! Wadda doing with your wallet in your back pocket anyway? Put it in your purse where it belongs!
Re-adjust your seat until you find a more comfortable position. You may also want to put more air in the seat as well. Other then that, what DAK1 said, a straighter seat and a air cushion if all else fails.

I would shop around for some aftermarket lumbar supports, & extra padding for the seat.. For a while people were using those"beads" on their seat... (I never tried them)
Maybe a back brace that you could wear, sorta like an ace bandage type
or kidney belt for motorcyclists?? (Just trying to offer suggestions)
I like "motrin" or "aleve" for pain over asprin, they have a anti-inflamatory effect and can be bought over the counter.
Answer:
I bought a new seat off e-bay.. not much difference than the stock seat,, cept it looks great. I took 400 mg of deca two days ago and it feels alot better now. Im also back in the gym which should also help as long as I dont go heavy.. thanks everyone for the post,, this board is great... s.c redneckThe largest importer of Chinese goods in the world
