Experienced Driver starting ova again
Question:
Hello drivers and drivettes, This is your favorite driver RNB trying to decide the best route for comin back out. I've been off the road since Jan 2004, but I have 3 years experience. I just got my license cleared of all tickets and just need to get my CDL back now. I have 2 options looking at me now. The first I really don't like but I need to get back on the road. And that is drive for SWIFT for 13 months through 1 of they're sponsored schools. Or go back to the Midwest and go through driver solutions and drive through STAR TRANSPORT. Both are just temporary so I can get my license back. and get some recent exp under my belt. Some of U midwest drivers let me know what U know about STAR TRANSPORT. Thx can't wait to see You'll in traffic. RNBDONNY SCHNEIDER TOLD ME THAT. Answer: So your license (CDL ?) had been revoked? Most carriers will hire with recent(within two years) exp. I don't see why you would have to go back to truck driving school? What is the rest of the story? Answer: No my CDL was never revoked. I just had 3 moving violations in Michigan in 2003. I stopped driving in Jan04 due to those violations and couldn't afford to renew my CDL or pay the fines at the time. Now I have only 1 moving violation in the last 3 years and only an operater license.DONNY SCHNEIDER TOLD ME THAT. Answer: Most companies will require some sort of retraining. Most would be a short time OTR with a trainer. Have you called WSE or any of the others? Swift sounds like they want to put you back through all the basic including school and OTR. If no one else will look at you it might be the way to go. Just call some others first. Answer: No Stuffs, I never checked out WSE. But I remember them well and I sure will. Thanx alot Answer: WSE ???It's just a scheme , perpetrated by man to keep a sister down.... 3 year old Grandson . Answer: Stuffs shame on you. Don't tell him WSE. If he's a old hand then he definately wouldn't like the changes here. They cut the trucks back to 65. The freight isn't like it used to be. You can't run like you used to. They have some dork in the breakdown department that claims to have a million miles under his belt ( I called his bluff). They have dispatchers that claim they know how to drive a truck because they were a driver for half a year (or less). Actually, it's really not that bad. I think they got rid of those last few problems. Hmmm and actually I think they got rid of the crappy trainers they have (or most of them.) They still have the training program, but it's no longer at Central Tech in Drumright, Oklahoma. It's onsite training, which isn't very smart if you ask me. As far as getting back into driving.....I think they'll just put you thru a refresher course to see if you lost anything. Of course that's like most companies. Just don't go to USX.Sweet Whiskey Answer: Sweet Whiskey I might believe U on that. I talked to WSE yesterday and it sounded like some BS to me. But hell I just paid my tickets off and haven't drove since Jan2004 So the only options I have right now is Swift or Star Transport out of Illinois offering me a training program also. I don't wanna mess with Swift for a year, Hell I did my first year with Schneider in 2001. And Swift wants to be them. I'll probably just move back to the midwest for a few months and take my chances with Star Transport to get back out. appreciate the help fellas. Hope to see You'll soon RNBDONNY SCHNEIDER TOLD ME THAT. Answer: Move to Kansas and work for Sueller Truck. They'll put you in a truck. Trust me on this point. I know people who use to work for them. Star is pretty good, I think. BOLSweet Whiskey Answer: Thanx Sweet whiskey I'd heard a few good things about Star Transport, just wanna make sure though. I already know I don't wanna mess with Swift and I might have to move back to the midwest to get back on with a decent company. I'll check Sueller truck out. thxDONNY SCHNEIDER TOLD ME THAT. Answer: More important than for whom you drive is what will you do to guarantee that you earn enough to afford to pay the tickets? If you had been driving for three years and couldn't afford to renew your CDL that doesn't say much about your work being part of the 'high pay highway'. Did you earn more out of the truck so you could now afford to pay them? Answer: MnMadman Of course I made $$$, When I was OTR. I ran for a Schneider and then a company out of Eagan Mn Named Transport America. Damn good company. Tickets are all paid off. I just had to wait a few years to get some time in between my tickets. I didn't renew CDL at the time because I didn't wanna drive to keep my record clear. I'm gonna keep my record clear this time around. I got to just deal with 1 of these companies to get my Ls back and get somemore recent EXP under my belt.DONNY SCHNEIDER TOLD ME THAT. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
