Hello everyone, just wanted to say, this is one of the best sites I've seen for info in a while.
My question is, I'm going to be an O/O, and it looks like I'm going to lease on with Mercer. Has anyone driven for them or know anyone that drives for them? Any info on them would be helpfull for making my choice. I live in Arizona and the package they offer seems pretty good; no forced dispatch, plenty of loads to keep the miles there, $1.00 to $1.10 a mile. They pay for base plates and fuel tax's up front. They also say the avarege miles a month are 9000-10000. I'm going to be running a flat bed trailer which I will buy too. Also looking to get a long nose Pete or KW around 96 or 97 year. Anyone have any advice or comments on this company.
Also, will I have to get my own authority to drive for them?

Are you currently a company driver? If not you may want to rethink being an O/O right away. How long and how much checking have you done on other companies in your area? Your post is kinda confusing as to how much experience you have.

I heard from my instructor to never let the company you leased on to, to let them pay for your plate, that is a good way of owning you for good.

I'm not a 100% sure but some where I thought I read that CRST bought Mercer and that is their Flat Bed Divison..

IF you can get your own plates. This way if for whatever reason you quit the company you can drive your truck home.

my neighbor has his truck with mercer for a few years now, must be happy, never asked him about them
