advice on new job
Question:
I will be starting a new driving job with averitt. monday i've been hauling cars as an o/o for about the last 9 months. but this will be my first experience with a 53 ft van. i passed my road test with flying colors (pretty intensive) i was just wanting to know some of the things icould expect when it came to weather cond., securing loads in the trailer etc i have a set of loadlocks are there anyother things i should know about Answer: Van freight is pretty much mundane.. The shippers as a general rule know how to load the trailer. Heavy loads have to be spread out so as to use the whole trailer.. Load locks are all that is used for the most part.. The "rachet" kind are better. If your trailers are equiped w/ logistics posts or E tracks, shoring bars & straps are way better than load locks. Just use common sence and you'll do fine, and when in doubt ask someone for help! Watch the tail swing on the 53' when those tandems are all the way up!
