Driver with a Felony
Question:
I am looking for work I have been out of Prison for a year worked with an owner op for almost a year but shes going out of business any ideas?? Answer: Depends on the felony??? Answer: Just don't bring it up, . Get a friend to say you worked for him during that time. Big Answer: Find another small mom and pop company. The big one's who hire guys with a bad past really suck. But then, so do most OTR mom and pop places. Fuel is expected to go up another 40 cents in the next couple of weeks so most small outfits will be gone anyway. Answer: What Stuffs said........... Answer: It continues to amaze me the stupid things drivers do. It may seem like a simple thing, however, when you fill out a form required by the Federal Regulations there can be dire consequnces when things go south. Big says: Two issues: Was the license continous or were you in long enough where there was a break in your license and you had to acquire a new license upon release? Now here is the clincher that could get the driver fired for falsifying the form and lying to the employer about his/her experience: Not to mention: Is the driver on parole? Is his freind on parole? Could violations of federal regulations be sufficent to revoke the parole? Be smart. For CDL drivers: Big's advice wasn't very well thought out, I would look to other sources for better recommendations. However you will not be able to get hazmat endorsement depending on what it is. Answer: Whats wrong with that advice???...Dire consequnces???....like what???the guys been in prison already.....what are they gonna do...not hire him??...Maybe the the best thing for him...LIARS SUKK Answer: As Dr.Laura would say, now go do the right thing. Apply where you like, just be honest or it'll bite you in the arse. You'll find that although you've paid your price to society or to the justice system your still gonna be penalized, like it or not until time passes. Time is the only thing to heal felony wounds. Sad but true.www.daveramsey.com Answer: Most people who are in prison anymore are there for something that was at least drug or alcohol related. Maybe it's not a good idea for them to be in a truck anyway. Answer: Sixthwheel: Sixthwheel, Bodybuild9125 already has one conviction. If Bodybuild9125 falsifies his application by listing employers who he didn't work for he can be peanized and depending on the severity of the event prosecuted for falsifying in-accordance with 390.35. I know of three investigations where drivers are doing hard time for crashes in CMVs. When drivers falsify logs, applications, medical reports, drug tests, etc. they are facing hardtime when things go south. If Bodybuilder9125 falsifes his application his employer can terminate him immeadiately for falsifying his application. It becomes a vicious circle, as Bodybuilder9125 now has two isses he may not to share with his next employer: 1. Prision 2. Proof that he continues to have issues with honesty and cannot be trusted. Benjamin Franklin Answer: Who knows. maybe this ex-con has a family to feed and needs a job to keep from going back to jail. If someone vouches for employment what to hell is BE>>SAFE going to do? Maybe have Homeland Security investigate? The man just wants a job!! There are carriers that actually prey on people with bad records because the carrier knows that person will do for them what ever it takes to keep the job. Be safe? Yea right! The DOT needs to apply more time keeping outlaw carriers off the roads instead of worring about some guy falsifying an application to make a living. BIG Answer: I knew it, some people are truly clueless: Big: Big, what kind of carrier will fail to investigate the con and hire him? Hmmmm, an outlaw carrier? Some day drivers will realize that if they aren't part of the solution they are part of the problem. When honest carriers are competing against illegal carriers that cut corners, pay their drivers less, run shoddy equipment, don't provide drivers with benefits, etc. they can under cut the honest carriers. The honest carriers cannot pay their drivers a salary the salary the driver feels he/she deserves because the cheap carrier is under cutting freight rates. But hey, no problem, Big comes and provides an out so a person can circumvent the system and make life worse for eveyone else. Stop Big you're killing me. Perhaps if you're feeling so generous you can let the driver work for your company. How do you know that? He now has a year's experience OTR. Now that he has a year of current experience maybe other reputible carriers will hire him. There is a driver shortage.
