I noticed you said you had 3400 paid miles the first week, but you say that the second week you had 7200 HUB miles....... So, how many paid miles the second week? LOLOLOL Answer: Member of the "slow learner" group? Forget the previous question,it's been answered. Answer: Swift profits increased 50%.Government Ain't YO' Friend. Nor your Servant. A Tax Reduces Incentive & Capacity. A Regulation is also a TAX. Answer: 7200 hub miles, you'll be paid for around 6200 at best. That's ends up being about .29 per mile. Detention pay? Believe that when you actually see it on a pay check. Speaking from experience here. I ran team with the wife for a year with Swift. They will give you the miles, allot of them, but getting paid for them is entirely different. I kept detailed records, we ran over 300,000 miles in that one years time, we were paid for 255,000. Layover and breakdown pay was almost impossible to collect. Swift has perfected the art of payroll shortfalls. You will not be paid for out of route mile when you are sent 100 miles out of your way to fuel at one of their terminals for 50 gals of fuel, yes they will actually have you drive 100+ miles out of the way, burning 20 gals in the process and only approve you for 50gal to get you to the next state where its a few pennies cheaper. Welcome to the brilliance of Swift logic. It didn't take me long to learn to "miss" my turn-off and find myself at an unapproved fuel stop running on fumes. It pissed off dispatch, but I'll be damned if I'm going to burn 3-4 hours off my logs and not get paid for a single mile. Sorry, don't mean to sound bitter. I'm a very laid back kind of guy and don't get upset easily, which is why I was able to put up with Swift for an entire year. This is not meant to be a rant on Swift, I just want anyone thinking about them to be informed and have some idea of what to expect. The wife had no experience at the time and Swift had the best opportunity for our situation, free training for her and they were the only company that would let me train her out of school at full team pay from day one in the truck, .32 at the time, whoo hoo. I went into it knowing Swifts reputation and I got exactly what I expected. But once the wife had a years experience we moved on and did very well else where. I was just a matter of putting in her time. That is all Swift if good for. Anyone there for any other reason is selling themselves short and making much less money than they are worth. Newbies, if you’re looking for a place to start, Swift is as good as any. They will, at the very least show you every trick in the book there is on how to screw you over. Only way to learn, right. If you go with them, use them for the experience and move on as soon as you get enough time under your belt. What else did they tell you during orientation? Yes, they will pay you for showers, but only if you haven't been at or driven by a Swift terminal in the last 24 hours. We ran teams, so that means that Swift paid for a total of 4 showers in a one year period. They expect you to shower in their terminals, and trust me on this one. A large number of their terminals showers are some of the most disgusting holes you have ever seen. I have a high tolerance for those type of things, unlike the wife, and I simply couldn't justify using these facilities. See above. Answer: Not always such a good plan to purchase stock in the company you work for. Say, for example, 5 years down the road and you are still working for Swift and have continued with this stock investment plan all those years... then suddenly Swift as a company goes into the tank, the stock price plunges and you find yourself without a job. Better to have diversification... invest someplace else other than where you work. However, if they are adding 15% you might hang onto it until you can dump it just to get that 15%. I assume there is period of time you cannot access Swift's 15% addition to your investment? Answer: Swift Stock?? Isn't Jerry Moyes being investigated by the SEC as we speak?? Didn't he have to step down from CEO? Now that's a good investment Answer: This aught to get ya'all going...not only is my D/M pushing me through to be a mentor but Im going to lease a T-2000 soon.
