Inverter ??
Question:
I did a search, can't find or didn't see what I want to know.
I know little about electronics:
If I was to get a inverter in the truck, what size is worth the investment? I plan to run a coffee maker and a stove of some kind. Should it be plug in or hard wired?
Must you keep the truck running when in use?
If not how long B4 you take too much off the battery
The Co. I'll work for will let you have a 1750 watt. if they install it. Didn't get a price yet.

Answer:
I have a 1500watt inverter in my truck and powers my t.v., alarm clock, microwave, george forman grill, 4.3cu. in. fridge, and little electic burner/ hot plate (whatever the heck you call the thing it's like a 1 burner stove to cook my eggs, vegs, etc...) have had it about a year now and have never had a prob outa it, just make sure to take it apart once in awhile to clean it out.
Hope that helps out some

Answer:
Get the 1750 or even the 1500 mentioned above. A coffee pot uses alot of juice and the small cig lighter type won't do it. Alot of people leave them on all the time, 24/7. Most newer trucks have a breaker that will shut off all power if the batteries get low so you won't have a problem. The biggest I ever had was a 1500 and we left it on with no problems.

Answer:
Just make sure you wire the inverter in safely using heavy gauge wire. Maybe 4 gauge.
I use 4 gauge wire for my stereo amp and FUSED at the battery.

Answer:
As a company driver you had better ask your company before putting anything besides a CB in the truck.... Many companies don't want you to splice their wiring harness with anything!!
Some drivers have no clue as to how to wire anything.... and wonder why the truck caught fire....
Most companies will do the install FOR YOU at their shop.. ASK FIRST!! before dishing out the $$ on a inverter..
Answer:

Thats why at US EXPRESS the company shop is required to install all inverters.
If the driver gets the bright idea to install anything other than an inverter that plugs into the 12v power point the will be fired!Specializing in marine repairs: Inboard, Outboard, and I/O's.

So that's not the issue ... mine is 1700 watts, it's been running pretty much all the time for several years ...
No doubt the have a shelf life, and I anticipate it will be replaced sometime soon ...

Answer:

You never splice an inverter into a wiring harness. You hook up inverters directly to the battery.

Answer:
I thought I was pretty clear??????
What's not to understand..
You sound like you know where to wire a inverter, but I know for a fact that there are some guys out there that WILL splice into the wiring harness or stick wires into their fuse box trying to create another circuit....
If it is not your truck ask the owner of that truck to either provide you with a inverter, or you buy one and have it installed professionally at your own expence.(True some shops company shops will do the install for you).
Often truck owners have a rule if you install somthing on their truck it stays on the truck.. so ask before doing anything is all I am saying.. (Too EASY)
Answer:
If you company cannot do the install because of lack of shop time, but, allows you to have an inverter?
I'd recommend a good stereo install shop install it for you, look in the phone book for a shop <BUT, "not a place like Best Buy, Circuit City etc.....
Good stereo install shops have an excellent understanding about size wiring, battery hook up, fuses, etc. Plus they have a lot of neat tools to install just about anything.
They carry all the "right" parts and wiring for this.
You'll pay for it, they don't work cheap, but you'll get a clean, safe, professional install out of it.

If you were referring to my post, about all those posts being confusing, it was a slightly veiled, tounge in cheek joke, about so many battery posts.Government Ain't YO' Friend. Nor your Servant.
