California? or Canada?
If you're talking about California, there are quite a few good places to work. What kind of work are you looking for?
If you want local work, I would say you won't find anything very easily. Not too many companies will hire right out of school for that. In CA the local pay is rather disappointing, too.
If however, you want OTR experience, which you should be looking for, go to some of the reputable companies that have local terminals. KLLM is good and they have a training program. Marten is good, and they also have a training program. JB Hunt is local, USExpress is local (although their trucks are all automatics). Arrow is right there too. There are many companies, and many kinds of trucking.

I don't work for any truck companies in the province. Looking into and will be attending a truck driving training school in the summertime.
However; have been doing my homework, asked questions and visited these companies to see if they knew of the schools and hired new drivers from these programs.
I'm only going by the people I met, what I saw at their facilities and over all gut feeling about a company.

Thanks for the reply and that would be Ontario Canada... I live in Guelph Ontario and most of the companies you mentioned are here in Guelph ironically... I was hoping to find some places back home in Sarnia...
