Hello me and my wife will be going to school thru a company eaither Swift or SNI
After we are OTR with our own keys to our truck... is 3,000$ a month something we should be able to make thats only 1500$ each..

ptown here is what schneider says on their website. Teams start at 32 cents per mile. They used to say that teams averaged 6000 miles per week. However, I can't find it on their website now. Lets say they average 5000 miles per week.
5000 miles X 32 cents per mile = $1600 per week. That's whats paid to the truck. Meaning you and your girlfriend would split these miles and make $800 each.
Now lets do it at 6000 miles.
6000 miles X 32 = $1920 per week Each of you would make $960 per week if you got that many miles [
4000 miles per week X 32 cents = $1280 per week. you and your girlfriend would recieve $640 each in this example.

Now for Swift Swift starts teams out at 33 cents per mile
Lets do the simple math again.
I don't know what Swift teams average per week. I didn't look at their website very long. So lets do the math at 4000, 5000, and 6000 miles.
4000 X 33 = $1320 per week You and your girlfriend each make$660 Each or a combined monthly income of roughly $5280 per month combined
If you average 5000 miles per week.
5000 miles X 33 = $1650 per week Each of you would receive $825 per week in this example. Or a combined monthly income of $6600 per month
6000 miles X 33 = $1980 per week Each of you would make $990 per week in this example or a combined monthly income of $7920.00
One more thing you may want to consider is Swift may let each of you train together, Meaning you, your girlfriend, and the trainer would all be in the same truck during your training period. Best call and see though. I may be getting them mixed up with covenant transport.

Thank you SOLO. as to you understood what i was wondering.. I hate to keep asking if 3000$ a month is crazy but she REALLY wants to make sure that is possible to do before we get out and do it.. We share the same bank account and money so 1600$ a week gettin paid to the truck will be togather.. so you are saying that it should be easy to make anywhere from 3k to hell 10k a month togather if the money is shared if we put in the miles.. 5000miles x .30 = 1500 a week ... 1500$ x 4 weeks in a month = 6000$ and even if we only caculate 3 weeks in the month and not 4 its still 4500$.. I also hear some teams are puttin up around 25000miles in a month thats around 7500$.. so these pay scales etc you put and i put down arnt that far fetched??

My partner and I started off, right out of school after finishing 3-5 weeks OTR with a company trainer, splitting $.40cpm. This was back in 2000 at Interstate Dist Co.
We usually ran at least 6K miles a week and stayed out 4-6 weeks. We were each making a grand a week. So to answer your question...Yes you can if you are willing to run. It wasn't that uncommon for us to get 7000k miles a week. You can make some money but you have to be willing to run...or I should say you BOTH have to be willing to run. Someone has to pilot that truck through the night. Your spouse will HAVE to learn to back up or you will woken up everytime you get to a receiver or a truckstop to park...and that will just wear you out!
On the other hand there were alot of teams that didn't want to run that many miles. They wanted to be "paid tourists" and park the truck to sleep every night. Interstate had to cut the pay of these teams unless they ran a minimum of something like 4500 miles a week, which isn't that many for a team.
But you need to look around for a company that pays teams well...$.32 per mile split won't cut it.
Have you looked into CFI out of Joplin, MO? I don't know if they still hire student teams but they used to...and I think they pay ok too.

I can't guarantee anything concerning mileage ptown. That's the recruiters job.
I suggest you go to pumpkindriver.com and ask your question their for schneider. It's a message board for schneider drivers. and they will be able to answer your questions. They also have a "team forum" there.
For swift. go to "classadrivers.com" click on "message board" on the left side of the page. "rokk is a trainer for swift" send him a pm. Their are a lot of swift drivers that hang out on that board.
However. the best thing to do is to call both swift and schneider and ask them how many miles teams average per week. BOL

One more thing I forgot to mention. During you and your girlfriends training period. 6-8 weeks with swift. Ya'll may not make $3000 combined. I believe that swift pays $325 for the first 2 weeks to each of you during your first 2 weeks of training. Then $350 per week through weeks 3-4. Then $400 per week through weeks 4-6. I don't know if those figures are accurate. I was to lazy to go to their website.
Schneiders training period is 2-3 weeks I believe. Then you 2 would be assigned your own truck. I think Scneiders training pay is $350 per week. That would be $350 per week for you.....and $350 per week for your girlfriend. Again check those numbers out on schneiders website. I was to lazy to go there. It may only be $ 325 per week. Hope this helps.
One more thing. I've heard from swift drivers that this is the way they dispatch their trucks.
# 1 The best loads go to teams
# 2 The next best loads go to "owner operators"
#3 Solos get whats left

You can toss around all the numbers you want and you might be right on and you could easily be way off.

Here is what your asking, can a team make $692.31 a week or 36K a year or 3000 a month. Yes you can and fairly easily.
If that is all you are making as a team I would quit in a heart beat. Most solos make that much and many make more.
As a matter of fact you can make and take home the that much with 2 $10.00 an hour jobs. Throw in a couple part time jobs and your in the money.

If your planning on living in a truck in the back row of truck stops and figure to run as a team making $3000.00 a month between the two of you. I'd say that trucking company will let you go.
Teaming with most of these trucking companies, your expected to "RUN"..that means a minimum of 200,000 miles a year. Many teams are running 250,000 miles a year or more. If you do not run the miles, they'll drop you like a hot potato.
Somehow, I get the impression you think you can just use a companies truck as a vacation camper.
