everyone got a raise but me.
Question:
ive been working with this teamster co. for 10 months and in the union contract we are to get a raise on the 1st of april, well today everyone popped their checks open and it was there but not mines. my intiation fee of $450 and union dues are paid up so i got on the horn and called the boss but he said that he'll talk to me about it tomorrow. i wasn't able to speak to my coworker that was hired in at the same time to see if his had kicked in or not, guess well see tomorrow.

Answer:
Maybe it's a HINT that they're gonna kick your azz to the curb.
Bet you never thought of that!

Answer:
well i saw the boss today after pulling into the yard but he was on his way out and stuck his head out of his lincoln and told me well sit down and talk about it on monday, im thinking that i have to be with the company for a year before he'll kick down but it just doesnt seem right since i did pay off my initiation therefore I AM IN. i may have to make a call to the union rep to clarify.

Answer:

That's your best bet as Union contracts vary by carrier and region.
You may not be eligble for a raise if you're classified as a part time casual.
Answer:
Talk to your union rep. Some contracts have progression for new hires. During progression, you will only receive the raises that are specified in the contract. Once you reach the end of progression, you would get full scale, which in your case, would be what your coworkers are making now.
At UPS, it takes 30 months to reach top pay. Takes 5 years for a railroad engineer. So it can vary depending on the company and contract.
During progression, you should be a union member, receiving benefits and union representation and paying dues. At UPS, my 1st month was "free."

Answer:
well its monday and i didnt sit down with the boss to discuss it but i did manage to see him rolling in again as i was walking out the yard, he stuck his head out his lincoln and told me that he bumped me up to full scale. ALL IS WELL IN NEWBIELAND. on a side note i did ask the coworker this morning that was hired in at the same time as me but he said that he didnt look at his check and will do so tonight, im guessing that his wasn't there either but i wont mention another word about it to him, he's called in sick several times and always needs overtime to finish his route so the boss may want to evade his bump up as much as he can.

Answer:

Evasion is not part of the "contract". If he's a poor employee the boss can fire him.
Answer:
what took him the 3 or 4 days to finally trll me that he decided to bumb me up then. im not sure but i feel like he made the decision to bring me to rate.

Answer:

He didn't make the decision, your "contract" did. If it's your time for a raise
it's not the owners benevolence that makes it happen. I suggest a talk with your Union Rep. concerning what Union Representation means.
