TMC New Driver's Website & Diary
Question:
Hi Everyone!
Flatbed Fred here. I'm a new driver/recruiter from New York City for TMC Transportation in Des Moines Iowa.
I've created a website at http://www.goldiesplating.com/flatbedfred that chronicles my career from start to finish. It covers my decision making process, company selection, trip preperation, schooling, TMC training and graduation in great detail.
I can also help answer any questions you may have about TMC and my email and phone number are available upon request.
Good Luck to all those starting out or thinking about a career in trucking and feel free to drop by ANYTIME!

Answer:

This could be entertaining.
Carrier paid "Pimps" usually are. Seems TMC can't afford TNuts advertising rates.

Answer:
Recruiting was MY choice NOT TMC's. I choose to do so for two reasons. One, because I truly believe in the company and enjoy working there and two, the extra income doesn't hurt!
Answer:
Can a wannabe get training thru TMC and then work for PFT? BOL

Answer:
Just when I start to think a company might be a reasonable place to work they do stuff like this. It puts the company at the bottom of the barrel in my opinion. If they have to resort to low ball recruiting tactics they can't be that good.
Hope he doesn't sucker very many from this board.
Maverick is looking better and better.

Answer:
The TMC SafeStat score is not available right now, but my understanding is that it recently shot through the roof. Maybe Annett is looking to replace a bunch of drivers in a hurry?

Answer:
Once again I state this forum is a joke................everyone on here is a smarta$$ and attack other drivers about anything and everything...
Maybe you (edited) can post your perfect records including driving work history and for that matteerr your homelife..........the way you clowns act on here your wives or brokeback buddies cant be happy...............
TMC is a very highly respected company and I have read another sites thread by this driver and his blog and I think he is very respectable also....
I cant wait for your holier than thou comments...........

Answer:
Thanks "nopolarbears" I appreciate the kind comments. The others don't bother me in the least and I'll NOT get into a "pissing contest" with obviously clueless (or misinformed) posters. The only result would be a locked down thread much like what happened on CAD. It's actually EASIER to ignore unfounded of totally off-the-wall comments than to waste time typing a reply.
Personally I don't see how ANYONE who visits my site (and actually can READ it) would think anything other than I did it to help other newbies. (Especially the pre-trip section and the daily diary). I just popped on here to lend a hand and got "cyber-assaulted" for my troubles. Class A Drivers has it's share of undesireables but THIS site tops them all. Never before have so many NEGATIVE replies popped up so FAST.
Oh Well.
Answer:

Not sure since I'm only famaliar with TMC but I believe PFT only hires experienced drivers but if you like you can either call their Toll-Free Recruiting Line at: 1-800-473-5581 or fill out an application by following the link below:

Answer:
my apologies to you fred for jumpping into your t thread......................I really shouldnt even come here any more peace

Answer:

Flatbed Fred you got 3 some what negative replies. They weren't even that bad. That is not a record breaking or astounding number.
This site was never intended as a place that people could go to recruite. I could make $1000 if I wanted to recruite others and the job is a very good one. We loose maybe 1 or 2 drivers a month company wide. But this isn't the place to do it.
Other than your recruiting nonsense your site is good. To bad you have to throw the want for money in the mix.

Answer:

I stated I'm a recruiter but perhaps THAT was a misnomer. I am NOT a PAID recruiter by TMC. I get the same amount as any OTHER TMC driver for referring other drivers. First and foremost I am a DRIVER for TMC. The recruiting part I do on my own. The only reason I stated that I recruit HERE is so people with QUESTIONS about TMC would feel comfortable asking me about them. That IS what THIS "Newbies" thread is SUPPOSED to be about no? Asking questions to QUALIFIED people who will give HONEST answers from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE? SLEEZY recruiters never LET people know their recruiting intentions. I'm simply a DRIVER for a company I believe in and enjoy working for. Sorry if that is "bad press" around here.
Answer:
If you are the same person that is posting at CAD as Goldies Plating, you mentioned there yesterday (10 Apr) that you are new, still 6 weeks away from getting your own tractor and trailer, and thinking about modifying your driveway for parking "if I like trucking and decide to stay in it". Don't you think you should be with your company just a little bit longer, and have a tiny bit more experience with them and trucking in general before setting yourself up as a company recruiter? Once you have been there awhile. then it's okay, but recruiting others before you have even been given your own first dispatch is a bit of jumping the gun.

I noticed that you put the word "Qualified" in capitals, but I looked up qualified in my dictionary, and it seems to have a slightly different meaning than the way you are using it in this post. Best regards......i

Answer:
Perhaps I am "jumping the gun" a LITTLE bit, but I have come to know MANY of the employees of TMC fairly well and consider several my friends. I have also spoken personally with nearly a dozen TMC drivers in depth about the company, their loads, their pay & benefits, their home-time and more and feel confident in my decision to work for them. My research into them spanned over 4 months PRIOR to my posting my site.
I'm currently a business owner and have no need for money as others have claimed. I'm getting into trucking because it's what I've wanted since I was a kid and now I have the ability to do so without financial risk or hardship. Being single and childless helps too as I have no one who needs me at home.
I only claim to be a QUALIFIED as a newbie and post as such to give other newbies first-hand knowledge about the selection process I went through, the training and the orientation process. These are the only questions asked of me thus far and the only ones I'd answer anyway. A lot of new guys want to hear about "What's it like" or "How is it when..." or "What should I expect when..." etc.. I've never stated I make a lot of money driving yet or how much loads pay or what it's like to drive for days on end. All this will come in time but I'm posting "as I go along" in diary fasion and for this information, I believe I am a good source.
Answer:

As far as setting myself up as a recruiter, I feel I'm as good as MANY recruiters at a LOT of trucking companies who don't even have a CDL!!! YES this IS true I checked! I have MANY years of managerial and office work behind me for several large corporations and I know the recruiting business all too well to paint a rosey picture of it. It's often poorly done and full of misinformation and outright lies. NOT HERE..... Not from me. I will be one of the few recruiters who IS a driver and believes in his company NOT the dollar sign.
