For those looking for companies with their own school and so
Question:
For PTDI certified training a newbie can go to PTDI's web site. They give locations of certified schools, course guide lines and other information. Being PTDI certified is a requirement of some companies.
http://www.ptdi.org/
Company schools, below are some. These are some companies who have their own schools. There are probably others i don't know of. While Community College may be the best overall route if you want good training and no or less cost below are some companies that will fill the need.
http://www.schneiderjobs.com/drive_inexperienced.html No cost training. They have been highly praised by other newbies as well as hated by them.
http://www.swifttruckingjobs.com/career.html They have their own schools to obtain training and they have No cost financing for select schools.
http://www.stevenstransport.com/learning.htm They have their own school but a poor reputation. Although that seems to be changing. the biggest complaint with them seems to be time out. It was as high as 6 weeks before you could go home. I have no idea what it is now.
http://www.ffeinc.com/driver_info.html Company on site training, orientation and the Over The Road training.
http://www.drivertraining.net/tpstds.htm One of the better companies to start with. Click on the left side menu for information about Roehl training
http://www.millistransfer.com/mti.html Another good company to start with and very low cost.
CR England, only go as a company driver if you go at all. I would pass on them I shouldn't even have put CRE in here due to their reputation. But I did because they do have a school.
http://www.primeinc.com/OPPORTUNITIES/cdltraining.html Prime, with one of the worst reputations in the business. But, some company drivers state they are ok. Only do the company driver program. Their lease deal is and always has been a scam. They do have a graduated repayment plan if you do not stay the full year.
Hope this info helps some one.

Answer:

Answer:
http://www.midwest-coast.com/index.cfm?ptype=article&article_id=26 (Midwest Coast Transport out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota). Heard good things about them. All Owner-Operators or Fleet Owners, so you could be a "company driver" for a fleet owner.

Answer:
i went with primes student driver program. i was very happy with it, and i am still happy and still at prime. i paid 100 fee, the signed a contract for 3500.00. went to class for a week, got my permit. went out on the road with a instructor. came back in got my cdl, went back out with a trainer. now i have been in my own truck for 6 months as a lease operator.. i am making money, and am very happy. the year commitment starts when you go into the training phase. i was witha trainer for 3 months, so i had three months clicked off before i even got into my truck.you know i want you to find a company that you can not find some horror story about. then you know if you really look into that story and take it apart, then reality of it alot of times is not what it started out as.prime is full of drivers who have been on the lease side for many years, and are successful, and very very happy.

Answer:

How does that go again?
BWAHHH HA HAA HAA!!!!!!!!
Mmmm sorry 'bout that!
Welcome!
Do keep us informed of your "success and or failure!"
Dang...there it goes again..................

Answer:
Thousands of people have failed miserably at Prime. Since all trucking is a chance I would try to lessen the odds of failure and make a better choice.

Answer:
Conway Truckload would be the way to go for teams.

Answer:
yes many have have failed, and many have been and are still sucessful at prime. not everyone is going to succeed at one company. not every company is right for everyone.tell me if every company is so much better than prime. if prime is the bottom of the barrel as so many have put them there, why is so many people upset with werner. every company has problems, every company has turnover.we work for a company that we are happy with, who's program works for us.

Answer:
Here's where you can post your Prime success story.

Answer:
While its a fact of life that one mans nighmare is another man's best dream, one thing that needs to be considered when it comes to "company paid schooling" that requires a contractual agreement: If you accept that schooling, sign a contract making a time commitment and agree to assume a debt to be settled in the event of your not completing the commitment....you can fairly well consider yourself to be pretty much an indentured servant. You will function entirely at their will....with possibly very little choice in the matter.
It would be a good idea to explore every possible avenue available to find the funds to cover schooling on your own. Where there's a will, there's a way.
If you fund your own schooling or seek out grants or state/federal training/retraining money....you will be a "free agent" who is not beholding to anyone but yourself, or possibly a lender outside the industry.
If you accept training with a contract and commitment that involves the assumption of debt for repayment....you can expect that your credit rating may get trashed, and you will be in fairly constant contact with "collection agencies", especially if you fail to make payments on time. There have been reports that some companies have demanded payment in full after the driver quit prior to completion of the obligation.
The old adage "CAVEAT EMPTOR" has much application here.So I like what I do, you don't, too bad, get over it. Get on with your life, I am.

Answer:

ignorance is bliss
I guess it all depends on what the definition of the word "is" is... I mean "success" is.
