McElroy?
Question:
Has anyone heard of this trucking company? Are they a good company to work for? I see their trucks here in Virginia alot. I know they are a flatbed outfit and their trucks look average. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:
I haven't heard anything bad about them. I know they advertise home every weekend.

Answer:
Their recruiter came to my truck driving school. They're a family owned, Christian company and I was looking hard at them. They're based in Cuba, Alabama, near Birmngham and run mostly east of the "big muddy". They don't have qualcomm or any other high tech in their trucks. They do guarantee you get home on the weekend and they mean Saturday and Sunday. If they're unable to get you home, they will pay you $100. Hope that's a help.

Answer:
I worked them for two weeks. Only reason I left is that flatbed is too much like work! Straps, boards, corner protectors, tarps, bungee cords, sheesh... I just load it in the van, throw a couple of load locks on, and I'm rollin'.
No disrespect to the flatbedders here, you've got my respect for the job you do! I'll stick to grocery warehouses.
Anyway, McElroy is a pretty decent company. Still using "old school" dispatch, no Qualcomm onboard. People were friendly, seemed like a good place to work for the little time I was there.
Last I knew of they have two terminals - one in Laurel, Mississippi, and the other in Cuba, Alabama (about 2 miles from where US-80 splits off of I-20 in Alabama, just over the MS/AL state line).
