info on central tech
Question:
Does any one have any info on central tech truck driving school in Drumright, Okla.? Even better any one been there that can speak from thier experiences? I'm planning on attending there with in the next few months and would love any info. that could be provided, such as are they any good, are the people half a$$ed friendly, do they provide you well with the training needed, and so on and so forth. I've been driving a straight truck for my step dads company for a few years now and think I want to upgrade my class. Thanks Y'all.
Answer:
Yes that is one of the better schools if not the best. Been their and enjoyed it. State run votech, late model equipment, all students have to wear uniformed shirts, skid pad, teachers help the student instead of pushing them thru. This is not a CDL mill. And they just don't let any company in their to recruit, recruiters only disrupt the class on certain days and for just a short time. They have to talk fast. You get plenty of driving time to. If you want to learn by the book and do it the rite way Central Tech is that school.
If you live in Wichita, have you tried Wichita Area VoTech. Had some friends that went their and they have about the same type of training program. Stopped by their one time to visit a freind, she was going thru training and they gave me a tour.
Both schools you will fine very professional trainers.

Answer:
Thanks for the info Pete, it's greatly appreciated. My uncle went to the wichita area vo-tech school, my preoblem with that is it's like a six month program as opposed to the four and a half week program at Central Tech. I want the right training to be very professional about the buissiness, but I can't afford to wait 6 months to get back to work either. Thanks again for the info. seems to be pretty much what I'm wanting to go through, and what I've heard it's cracked up to be.
Answer:
Agrred with pete. This is a professional college setting. I loved it.
They have basically a whole town of roads on campus to get all kinds of drive time in.
Therre are no idiots there, the instructors are all professional and polite.
They will thoroughly prepare you in every aspect.
They removed 4 of the 20 students in my class for not keeping up the academic side. YOu have to keep up your grades, they use the PTDI textbook and all of it's testing for the classroom part.
you will also go out on several road trips in convoy style. Each trip is longer than the previous one.
There are sections of the drive course dedicated to backing if you want to concentrate on backing.
If a person cannot handle a truck by the time the CDL test comes around, they will expel the student. It is not a mill and they will not test anyone who cannot do the work.
There is also progressive road tests as you go along with different instructors. They test each phase to make sure you progress properly.
You will have hours of drive time every day you are there.
The campus course has intersections, hairpin curves, railroad tracks, tight turns, and many real world type roads.
I am very glad I went there and cannot say enough good things about it.

Answer:
Great thanks, sounds awesome, I appreciate the info.
Answer:
If there is a better choice of a truck driving school for the money, I'd like to see it. I still can't figure out why people spend untold thousands on inferior training when there are good choices like Central Tech out there. The instructors are great and are not ego driven. They will make a good newbie driver out of you by the time you graduate!

Answer:

Hmm, Newbie Class A, but not a newbie driver, I'm 4th generation trucker on both sides, and have been driving a straight truck since I was 18, just a tiny correction. Thanks for the info. it's greatly appreciated!
