You're going to have some really bad weeks
Question:
Trucking has some bad cycles no matter what you run. Weeks when things slow down or almost stop.
This is particularly true if you run flatbed, as I do.
Here's an example of a week that makes you wish you'd stayed home.
Monday-unloaded early....550 mi. run. Reload only goes 208 miles. Not good until you realize only 2 of us out of a total of 8 got a reload.
Tuesday. Short run unloaded, bounced 52 miles, picked up 313 mile run.
Wednesday. Unloaded-no loads. 4 p.m. bounce to terminal. 168 miles.
Thursday. Loaded..83 miles. No loads. 2 p.m. bounced 98 miles to reload. O/D load, no movement after dark.
Friday..pulled out, back to house for del. Monday, and final Tuesday.
Ended up with 1472 paid miles for week. From what I was told, this is better than most of our guys did.
Not really anybody's fault, just truck was in wrong region at wrong time of year.
What got me tho, was the number of drivers at the terminal that were threatening to quit over ONE bad week.
Doesn't matter where you go, you're going to have bad weeks. Going to quit every time it happens?

Answer:
I hate slow weeks just as much as the next guy, and there's almost nothing worse than sitting someplace 1,500 miles from home, with nothing to do.
No matter what you pull, van, flat, tank, whatever.......there will be slow times each year.
For me, this slow period usually runs from Jan. through the middle of Feb.
Sure, it can get frustrating at times, especially when it takes twice as long to make a 'normal round' than normally does.
Is that grounds enough to quit your job? NO!

Answer:
Man I have had slow weeks before, but Yowza!! wuzzy does your outfit run the "short" miles by choice?? just curious?
I haven't had a run under 1k in over 6 months(not bragging just statin the facts......ok i'm bragging )
