Anybody with Covenant?
Question:
Any information about Covenant out there? We have heard some good things about them. Should have cdl license by the end of the week, hopefully. It sounds like they will train teams together. Anything good or bad will help. Does anyone know if they are hiring husband and wife teams? Answer: Those are the only positve stories I hear about Covenant are from the Husband and wife teams, yes they love husband and wife teams. I have heard a lot of bad things about them as well. I know a woman that ran with her now ex-husband for Covenant for 2 yrs she enjoyed it, just a typical major OTR company, no frills. She said freight was 98% drop and hooks. Pay was average she said she earned about $32,000 her first year and about $35,000 her second year (thats after the pay split and before taxes together they earned around a lil above $70,000 before taxes and expenses of course). Good luck towards you guys cus your gonna need it. Answer: Gee thanks, needed that. I haven't heard anything bad about them really. Everyone seems to talk about them pretty good. Just wondering if anyone had details on the bad. Answer: I drove for Covenant when I first got out of school. They have you with a trainer for about 60 days, then you can team with your spouse. They have good equipment, and you get your choice of coast to coast or regional now. I drove team with them and did well, making about $1,100 a week before taxes. My co-driver and I were put on their super team status, and we had the truck moving 20hrs a day. They have full service terminals in Chattanooga, Oaklahoma City and Long Beach . Most of the runs are drop and hook and you can get driver load and unload pay if you touch the frieght. They have all the benefits that most carriers have and direct deposit. Their major traffic lanes are I-10, I-40, I-80. If you start in the winter and are new, you will mostly stay south after your training is complete. After a year, you will see I-80 and I-90 during the winter time. Good luck and enjoy yourselfs. Catch you on the flip! Answer: Thanks for the reply scalehouse dont sound too bad. Their web site says they will train teams together. Training for solo said 20 days and team 41 days. Wondering how true that really is. We did get our license and sent in applications to a few companies. We have heard from two of them but nothing from covenant. Answer: I have read several negative comments about Covenant. Check out the links below before you sign on... http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/viewforum.php?f=1 http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/viewtopic.php?t=143 Answer: Interesting site, I can only speak about my time with Covenant, I did not have most of the problems that were posted. I did have a weekend dispatcher tell me to drive the truck when I had pulled over to take a two hour nap, due to driver fatigue. I posted on the quailcom that I was sending his message to safety and he responded back, for me to take all the time I needed to get my rest. Point is, if you know your rights, and don't take crap of of these dispatchers, they leave you alone. Every company has them and you need to learn how to handle them, or they will take advantage of you. I had a conversation with my dispatcher when I first hired on. I told him, I would work hard for him and make him money, just don't screw with me, if that happens, it is a two way street. He did not beleave me. On a run that I had, he did not want to pay me and my co-driver for unloading a trailer, saying we did not have company permission to do so. Not to unload the trailer ment that we would have been late on our other appointments. When he refused to give us our authorization numbers to put in our trip pack for unloading pay. The next run, we ran five miles under the posted speed limit for the whole run and we had alot of driver fatigue. The load was late, and the dispatcher lost his payment for that run due to late delivery. I never had another problem with that dispacther ever. Company could not touch me or my co-driver, the run was legal and we did nothing against company polices. Catch you on the flip! Answer: OK,,,, Sounds like we're going with Covenant they will train us both at the same time, and have a pet policy. The lady we have been talking to said we will be out with the trainer for the full 40 days. But she has also lost all of our paperwork at one point or another. Does anyone know anything about their training period? We were hoping to come home atleast once in that time period if not more. I just can't see a trainer wanting to be out for that long either. Not sure if she knows really whats shes talking about. Answer: When I trained with Covenant, my trainer wanted me out for the whole two months. I put my foot down and stayed out a month, went home a week and then back out for the other month. You probably can get them to let you do three weeks out a week off and then finish up. Catch you on the flip! Answer: Was wondering..... Since there will be two of us in the truck training will the trainer drive any. No idea how this is gonna work out! How many miles can we expect to get? Any ideas??? Answer: 40 days with 3 PEOPLE and possibly some sort of PET in a TRUCK Answer: The trainer will be the pet. Answer: Not touching that one Answer: You should get between 5,000 and 6,000 a week teaming if you know how to work their system. After you get done training let me know, I can give you alot of info on how things work with dispatch and shippers and receivers. The inside story so to speak. Catch you on the flip ! Answer: Scalehouse, Thanks for all the info. We will be going to TN. next weekend to start the 4 day orientation then they said we will be with trainer for 40 days. So when we do get home we'll let ya know, at the time we dont have a lap top to take with us. Man sounds like a long time though. Im hoping we can get home in between, atleast for a couple of days it would be nice. Im sure we will get in touch with you thanks again!! Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
