Question about trucking carrer in Canada
Question:
Bkealey2002@yahoo.com Hello, I am writing to get some information about a career in truck driving. I am a Canadian citizen, so I am not sure if i am on the right forum?. I am presently employed as a teacher. I am considering a career change, but I don’t know if it’s viable considering my age and lack of experience in the transportation industry. I am a 45-year male in excellent health. I have many questions about a career in driving that I hope you might be able to answer. 1. Am I too old to enter a driver training program to obtain my Class 1 License? 2. Do may drivers live in rural areas, or do most live in or close to a large urban area? 3. How important is it for a driver to have a sound understanding of mechanics? 4. What is the average work week of a long-haul or short-haul driver? 5. How any hour a day do drivers usually drive? I have read that there are now provincial or industry standards regulating the maximum number of hours a driver can be behind the wheel. 6. Are there many drivers who can continue work until retirement age of 65? 7. How do drivers keep in physical condition for the job? 8. What are the requisite skills to do the job? 9. Is it possible to land a job as a driver straight out of driving school? 10. Are there any books you could recommend that could help me learn more about the career? Sincerely, Bernie Kealey Answer: Try our sister site for information about driving in Canada. TruckNet Canada Best of luck Answer: Books ? Yeah, try Sweatshops on Wheels by a University of Michigan professor. His name slips me. Your library or local book store probably has or can get a copy.______ |l ,[____], l---L –OlllllO- ()_) ()_)-(-)_) I'd rather die on my feet like a man than live on my azz hiding in a truck.........Sir James Brown Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
