Carter Logistics
Question:
I think they use to be called Carter Express. Anyways 1 of their recruiters is suppose to come to our school toward the end of Jan. and all the school instructors rave about how good they are. Suppose to be dedicated no touch auto parts. They are out of Anderson, IN which is a plus for me 'cause they are only 42 miles from where I live. Anyone ever worked for them or heard anything good or bad about them? thanks Answer: Gorilla; Where is it you are going to driving school at? I have had Carter in my classroom numerous times. They have hired alot of my students, but I have had several of my former students call me up later, to tell me that Carter was requiring them to falsify their log books. As I understand it, Carter has alot of frieght runs for the automotive industry. My former students are telling me that they have to run illegal in order to make those runs. They have to speed and put falsified entries into their daily logs to complete their runs. At first I did not believe it my-self and wanted to give Carter the benefit of the doubt, but I keep having students call me and telling me, the same thing over and over. Since the credibility of the school was at stake, I questioned Angie about this. one of Carter's recruiters and she completely denied this was going on and that Carter was requiring their dirvers to drive legally. So a investigation was done and I had some of my former students, do another log book to show what their actually driving and running times were. Unfortunately to my shock, I discovered drivers were indead being forced to speed and falsify enteries on their logs, in order to make their running times. There is no way that Carter could make these runs legally. If a driver would make entries true and correct on their daily logs and show that they were driving in excess of the daily allowed hours, the logging dept would give their logs back to the driver and tell them to change their entries, to show compliance with the FMCSR's. I reported our investigative findings and filed a complaint with FMCSA, but have heard nothing back. I suspect that DOT just looks away, giving little creedence to a driver's compliant and gives the company the benefit of the doubt. This is one area of reform that is needed at DOT. Since I discoved Carters illegal activities, they were banned from coming back to the school for recruiting. I do not condone or endores any company's illegal activites and nor should anyone else. Catch you on the flip! Answer: At least you know you're going to have plenty of work! Answer: Scalehouse: I'm at Sage in Muncie, IN and the way I understand it Carter will be one that has a recruiter come in and also we'll be taking a field trip to their Anderson terminal towards the end of class. If they are pushing illegal they can count me out. Answer: Gorilla; Is Jon Readmond still there, as the school Director and his assistant Carol? I understand the program has changed. This school use to be affiliated with Ivy Tech State College in Muncie, but their contract with Sage was not renewed. How is your experience been with them, while your there? If you drop me a private e-mail, I could tell you alot about this school. Catch you on the flip! Answer: Common practice thoughout the industry, has been forever. Suspect? Next you'll suspect the ATA represents Drivers instead of "owning" the rule makers. Not enough of "you" unfortunetly my friend. Answer: Yes that common pratice is against the law! The driver gets caught, he is the one that will pay the fine and loose his CDL. The company will just deny everything and continue to abuse drivers. Catch you on the flip!
