My tip on how to NEVER get a cold.
Question:
I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on tv, but here's my tip on an EASY way to NEVER get a cold. I got this tip from a doctor 5 years ago. Since then I have NEVER had a cold nor an ear infection. Prior to that time I would get ear infections often, and a cold at least once or twice a year. Here's the tip: When you start feeling like you are getting a cold or ear infection, lay down on your side and pour about half a capful of peroxide in your ear. Leave it for at least 10 minutes. Sometimes I will fall asleep for several hours with it in my ear. If it is very bubbly, then drain it out after about 10 minutes and repeat. The reason to do this is because the reaction will get HOT in your ear if it is that bubbly. Then do the same thing in the other ear. Also, if you feel like you are getting a sore throat, you can gargle with peroxide (if you can stand it, which I can't) or you can get some Peroxly at Wal-Mart. It is a mouthwash made with peroxide. (Or I'd guess you could mix peroxide with your current mouthwash - never tried that.) The Peroxyl is expensive - about $5 for a small bottle, but you only need it maybe once or twice a year. On the plus side, if you do this often, you will also have NO earwax, as the peroxide will dissolve the ear wax. Again, this isn't medical advice, but I do know I have not had a single cold, flu, or ear infection in 5 years. Just be sure to catch it early when you first start feeling a cold or "under the weather" coming on. And it's a cheap remedy. A bottle of peroxide that will last you a year costs less than $2. Hope it keeps some of you from catching a full-fledged cold and keeps you from having down time or just being miserable. Answer: I saw this post and thought "Whatever", but I was curious. I did some research, and found many places attesting to this. So I tried it. Not for a cold, but for problems hearing. I was having trouble hearing the human voice. It seemed muffled. I had my wife pour it in (about 1/2 capful), and I kept it in for 3 minutes. I noticed a definite increase in the amount I can hear. Wow! They all said, however, to leave it in for 3-5 minutes. I found several warnings about leaving it in too long. They said that if it was left in too long, you could end up with a permanent fizzing noise in your ear (from peroxide that gets trapped). Thanks for posting this. Answer: Well, I've left it in sometimes overnight because I fell asleep and forgot about it. No fizzing in my ears, but that may explain the voices. ----------------------------------------------------------- "Our computer doesn't know you, and you've come a day too late." Answer: I hope you're using Hydrogen Peroxide which is a method for removing ear wax. Peroxly is for gum disease treatment. Gum disease can cause sinus and ear infections. Colds are caused by Viruses which are not affected by "peroxide". Answer: Just make sure you don't try to "gargle" with Hydrogen Peroxide, because if you do.....you WILL regret it. Other than that, washing your hands and avoiding people with the sniffles, coughs, etc., and washing your hands often, and keeping your hands and fingers away from your eyes will go a long way to helping. Also, if you do get a cold or the flu.....please be considerate and stay away from the rest of us.... So I like what I do, you don't, too bad, get over it. Get on with your life, I am. Answer: When I was a kid, that was the method Mom used for our ear cleaning. A capful of peroxide in the ear, wait, and feel the bubbling begin. I always had a mental image of little pieces of wax floating up in the stream, but it seemed to work. I still use it to this day. Suspect this came from Grandma or even further back in the family tree. Answer: Drink lots of fluids (particularly fruit juices and unsweetened tea) and smoke cigars. That is what I do and I haven't had a cold in years. Answer: I agree with drinking fluids and tea,but smoking cigars?? Doesn't that irritate the sinuses and cause excess mucus?Disclaimer:Pick too ugly to post at this time,LOL. Answer: The "cheaper" the better, keeps people out of your personal space. Answer: when I get around kids or adults with runny noses or anything. Or if I feel I may have a cold comming on.
