Is Courtesy Gone?
Question:
I thought truck drivers were suppost to be courteous to one and other. I've noticed that only about 40% of drivers are courteuos. I dont know how many times had flashed my light on and off at night so a driver could go around me and he never flashed his marker lights or no thank you or nothing over the cb. Now some drivers are real courteous, but seems sad to me that most are not? Is this everywhere in the country?
I thought drivers were suppose to watch each others backs....but it seems like everyone for themselves......

Answer:
No turn signals. Parking in everybody's way. Cutting in line at a shipping window. Peeing all over the toilet seat. Bags of crap tossd out the window.
I recently saw a bumper sticker on a trailer door: How's My Driving? Call 1-800-EAT-SH1T

Answer:
And the drivers who really do care about the profession wonder why they still get little to no respect.

Answer:
Well.....I know the reason I don't get enough respect is because the slob-hacks give us a bad name. I'm worth much more respect than what I get.
But I don't take it too personally. I know what kind of driver I am and what kind of work I do. Everything else is just a second opinion.

Answer:
And it is nothing new. The me, me, me attitudes have been around for quite some time now in all walks of life. The I don't care what happens as long as I get my slice of the pie philosophy on life has pretty much replaced the treat thy neighbor as thee wish to be treated of yesterday.
It gets quite discouraging at times when faced with rudeness, or worse yet indifference, but if you allow yourself to sink to their level you become part of he problem. All any of us can do is to stick to our principles, to our convictions of what is right and wrong, of what is courtious and what is rude. All those of us with a sense of moral decency can do is continue on that path the best we can, and in the end take satisfaction that we came through life with integrity, courage, and honor.
I will always be a mutter trucker at heart.

I wouldn't put the figure that high...

Which is why I don't do the flashing light thing anymore.

Yup.

You got it. Everyone for themselves. I got mine, f**k everyone else. That is the mentality of people nowadays, which is one of the reasons I don't associate with other people if i can help it.
Just assume everyone you meet or associate with is a total moron, and most of the time you will be correct. The times you actually meet a decent person will be a pleasant surprise!
