Question:
I've been accepted at MTC for training and told Werner is who I will be working for. I'm excited and a bit scared all at once! Excited because I want to be a truck driver, scared because it's the unknown.
Signing the contract is going to be the big thing for me. I was told Werner will not pay for me to get to Missouri, so that's coming out of my pocket.
Here are the specifics: Financing $3700.00 which means the cost will be $6500.00, will get paid 26 cents per mile, making roughly $32,000 a year. Contract is anywhere from 12 - 14 months to drive for Werner. School & training together means I won't get home for 2 1/2 months from the get go.
I see me getting a new cell phone plan real quick!
Can anyone give me tips on MTC & Werner? Good or bad. I'd like to hear them all. I know that whether you have a good experience or bad experience, it's your experience. It may or may not happen to me. I just need some food for thought.

Try one of the training company's. I beleive all it will cost you is a year servitude. I would check around. Sounds like alot of money and you dont get to choose who you work for? Hope you havent signed anything yet. What a ripoffMarines stay and fight, Bush makes sure of that.

I've not signed anything. If I pay for the training, it's $3500. If I finance the training and work for Werner for a year or 14 months, they pay the finance price of $6500.
I don't think it's different than any other training co. where they pay your training and you work for them for a year.
I was just wondering if anyone out there works or worked for Werner and what kind of experience they had with this company. And if anyone was trained at MTC, what they thought of the training.

My hubby drives for Werner. Well, really he just spends a lot of time in truck stops in a Werner truck.
He's been with Werner for nine months now, so he's making a whopping .29 a mile!
Today, FOR THE ENTIRE DAY, they assigned him a load that totaled 59 miles.
Do the math.
Does Werner sound like a company that wants you to flourish and thrive?
I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy.
Soon he will have a year in, he can change companies, and we can start buying groceries again.

LOL. I don't know what the percentage rate on that is. I just know it's cheaper if "I" pay for it. I guess since most people don't have several thousands at once, they double the price for you to pay back!
I may just go with my local community college in January. I haven't heard too many good things about Werner yet.

If your going to drive a truck do the Community College program. That trucker math of doubling the price if financed is just to freaken crazy. They try to make it easy by sticking it to you in the financing.

Wife went to school there. Talk about a joke. They broke about every law in the book and even held her for two more weeks for not wanting to play nice with a instructor that made her a deal.
She went to this school with a job offer from JB Hunt. JB Hunt dosn't take students but they were going to take here. She had been in and driven semis for a few years. So the silly school would be no problem. They got mad because we paid cash for the school. They still had her sign a paper that said she was financing 3600. This place sucks and I hope the owners mother gets aids and kills her grandkids.202 N Main Street

I appreciate your comments. I haven't had many say MTC was good. However, please stick to the facts. Personal slamming isn't called for. It may not be a good company, but don't blame it on the owner's mother. Everyone is responsible for their own actions.

A friend of mine just finished training with Werner. He was out for 9 weeks for training and to deliver 1 load before he went home for 5 days. He just went back out with his partner. They are going with Team Werner. I'll let you know what he thinks of that as soon as he gives me a call. Drop me a PM in about a week or so and I'll let you know what he has to say, although I personally think you won't be able to judge any company until you've been with them for at least 8 months or so. That way you've learned the ins and outs of said company.
