H.O. Wolding Info. Will verify as I go. . .
Question:
So, I had a sit down Pow Wow with Gary from recruiting yesterday in Portland. Very nice guy, and the quintissential trucker . If I were casting another Driver movie, I think I'd have to stick him in a truck. That's not a bad thing by the way. Just reminds me alot of my Uncle Hoyt down there on I 10 somewhere, just a bit further below Max GW. He claims he puts out recruiting data on the conservative side, and all pay and mileage averages are updated quarterly since they publicize them. I'm not here to dispute anything he says. Nor am I looking for Nay Sayers who don't actually have experience with this company. This is just to provide information, and as my Journey continues with them, I will be able to show the differences, if any, between advertisement and reality. Since my wife drove off with my notes this morning, I'll do this from memory and help from their site, and correct anything tonight. Who is Wolding? Wolding is a third generation Dryvan company based out of Amherst Wisconsin. They presently run about 350 late model trucks, all conventional, all Freight Shakers and Internationals. They all have full sleepers, no daycabs, and will have one of 3 transmissions in them, 10, S10, and Auto. The fleet is mostly comprised of 2000,'s -2002's. Afew '98's and 99's are still around which I am sure go to the Newbies. Wolding decided against buying the 2003's due to some engine changes (smog related?) and wanted to see how the large companies fared with them first. Chris Wolding runs the NE Region and he will be the Wolding I work for. Wolding has contracts with a large variety of companies including, Poland Springs Water (12 miles from my house ) Hannafords, Sams Club, Wal Mart, and without my list my brain fizzles out I'll try to remember to add to it later. Due to the high demand, Wolding is planning expansion in New England. They presently have an in-house Broker, to keep up with the demand. Moving on. . . Wolding is an 85% student based company with a 48% turn-over. They take great pride in that and have no problem sharing that info. I believe Some of the Giant companies would kill to get down to 100%. Hey, it's a tough field. . . They preffer very good students (they plan on slow growth but strong growth) Regions: NE I-90 Corridor. Maine to NJ, NY (no forced disp. 75$ bonus) Buffalo occasionally down to Philly, you get the picture. Wolding has Trans-Pass and (what's the turn Pike pass?? God I'm getting senile) Anyhow, now digging for change at the tolls. SE VA (which can also be "extended NE) The Carolinas, Atlanta, occasionally a little Fl. Alabama, starting to get the picture? SE DRIVERS NEEDED> MW Ah yes, the Mid West. MN, WI, OH, to Ks, TN etc. You can choose to run OTH, and they can keep you plenty busy through all three regions. Regional or extended Regional. I'm Considering a new dedicated Run, Portland Maine to Richmond VA with bottled water. Richmond VA To Portland Maine with Hannafords, Kitty Litter, Drop and hook. Twice per week, home weekends. Through the house mid week?? Maybe. . . Miles They got'em. 2500 - 2700 per week. More if you enjoy being a Dweller. Wolding gets you home for the weekend, except ofcourse, OTR. OTR is out 7-10 with about 2 days off. Some weekends it may be in a 6A on Sat. and Out 11:30p on Sun. Other Times it may be in early Friday, get loaded, park it and have it in NY 8 AM monday. First year Drivers (post training and getting settled in to your routine) Pay including bonuses averaged last year .345/mile. You can do the math. That doesn't include tuition reimbursement. That adds on another 2 cents per mile. Insurance: yes 401K:yes Vacation Pay: Yes Holiday Pay: Yes 4 Holidays, and You will be home for Christmas. Wolding Will train to Class "A" for Wisconsin Residents. That's about all I can remember. As time goes by I will update this thread with my findings. I fly out Monday and I'm anxious to get started. Catchya' on the flipside H.O. Wolding bound or bust. Dodge Makes It, Cummins' Shakes It! www.TurboDieselRegister.com If you ain't Cummin'. . . your Strokin' Answer: Does this company have a web site. Your info has got me interested, I live in Columbia, S.C. Thanks Airborne Answer: I'm going to say one mor thing, and I'm not going to point the finger, but, when you have your "PRE-HIRE" Status with Wolding, your application HAS BEEN APPROVED. Some companies seem not to even start looking until you have arrived on the bus! When you have made it to Amherst for training, you face a Physical, Drug Screening, Skills test (pre test) but your background check is done. Your time has been accounted for, your MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) has been approved and you are good to go. The only things that will send you home are the things you do THERE. This buss ride home crap, because you didn't get this letter or that or you had to many speeding tickets, what ever! That should have been taken care of LONG before you got there! At Wolding it is. So, anyways Happy Trails! Answer: DOH! I'm an idiot! I'm Sorry www.howolding.com and you can tell them Dennis from Limerick Maine sent ya!
