Is trucking a dead end job???
Question:
http://visaliatimesdelta.gannettonline.com/care...sevensignsMP.html I know I know, we don't need to start a new trucking yay or nay match I just thought it was funny Answer: It was an interesting read! Probably alot of drivers will be able to identify with many of the 7 signs..... Seems the writer was describing "trucking" in a way. Might even encourage some of them to look at their futures and maybe see where they can improve their lives.... especially the young ones before its too late.So I like what I do, you don't, too bad, get over it. Get on with your life, I am. Answer: Every job out there is or can be a dead end job. Reading between the lines of that article it all comes down to attitude, either yours or your supervisors/company's attitude. Answer: Only if you end up on a dead end road. BOL Answer: Based on the link posted, no more than any blue collar job. The cold facts are that most anyone without a college degree will wind up in a dead end job, entreprenurial ventures notwithstanding (restaurant owner, building contractor, etc.). I have seen and heard of truck drivers becoming dispatchers, road service reps, and the like -- jobs that probably pay less than actual truck driving but provide a respite from the on-the-road lifestyle, but probably have a greater chance of becoming the 'dead end'. Answer: You hit the nail on the head Mark. I was a maintenance mechanic for 21 years in a plastics plant. Lets just say that the thought of getting out of bed every morning and going back to work for yet another day never really thrilled me!! But it paid the bills and left for a decent lifestyle. Now that I've been disabled for a year, I'd kill to go back to that job I so dreaded. Like the song says, You don't know what you've got until it's gone. A job is a job, and work is a 4 letter word. In my feeble opinion,it's human nature to be unhappy in what your doing when you've been at it for any length of time, and to think that the grass might be greener some place else... Answer: True to a point, but the sad part is that so many people settle for a job that bores them. One thing I have learned over a lifetime of several jobs is that once it becomes drudgery, that is the time to set your goals for something else, and commit whatever effort is needed to get there. The alternative is to stay in the same old rut and complain... another 'human nature' pastime Answer: TRIPLE DEAD END. ( 3 X the hours ) . ______ |l ,[____], l---L –OlllllO- ()_) ()_)-(-)_) I'd rather die on my feet like a man than live on my azz hiding in a truck.........Sir James Brown Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
