The wife and I are ready to team
Question:
Can anyone tell me what companies will let me train my wife after she has finished school? We are both trying to make some money for our future plans and the kids are grown. I think both of us driving would help us aquire some good savings....What do you think???? Answer: US Xpress, they will let you train her after you have been with them for 3 months. They will even put here through school. The bad thing is they have all automatic trucks, so she will not learn a manual. Covenent has a similar program.202 N Main Street Summerfield Il 62289 TRUCK PARKING AVAILABLE! Answer: Driving team can be a good way to work hard and save money. Most teams with a good company run between 4000 and 6000 miles per week, which means when one partner drives, the other partner sleeps. After ten hours, they switch. The truck moves for long periods of time with little downtime. This takes some serious getting used to, but maybe it works for many couples. As a husband/wife driving team, I must also stress how important it is that you can get along. You have to both make many sacrifices to live together in a confined space, agree on time spent driving, agree on where you will make your stops and how long you will be stopped there, and agree on how the money is spent. You will be together basically all the time, with very little time for personal interests or friends. Just some things to consider. Answer: CFI, out of Joplin,Mo.(this would be MY #1 choice.) USXpress Covenant Transport Answer: Thanks so much for all the information. i have been on many truck driving boards and the people here are so wonderful. If anyone else has any advice i would sure like to hear it. Again, Thanks. Answer: I know CRST trains the spouse.. As a one family team you can make good money.. My partner and I where both OTR drivers and had been for a long time when we teamed up and it was hard for us in the begining because we both where set in our ways. But if both are you are newbies you won't have that problem.. It does take alot of changes to get use to being together 24-7 in a small area, but it can have great benifits also.. good luck and again welcome to trucknet Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away Answer: I teamed for a short time with my wife years ago. We were able to get along quite well, because when I started her training process, I made it VERY clear that I would train her just as I would any and every other student I ever trained. At times, she got her feelings hurt, but she got over it. When we got mad at each other, we had a rule. If one of us said we were mad and we weren't able to resolve the problem, the curtain got closed and the sleeper became a seperate room. That way, we each could reflect on the problem at hand and usually ended up apologizing to each other. That private time in the sleeper should be honored by both parties. As for a company to go to work for that will allow you to train her: the top of my list would be Midwest Coast Transport out of Sioux Falls,SD. It is an all Owner operator company that has several fleet owners. They treat you fair and with a lot of respect. Shop around within their system for an owner looking for a trainer team. Most owners there have good equipment and the company is very safety concious. You can reach them at 1-800 843-9904. Ask for driver recruiting and they'll tell you what you can expect and they can give you a list of prospective owners for YOU to interview. Talk to more than one, as some put their money into fancy equipment and others put their money into decent wages and benefits. It's all up to you and what your needs are. Remember, with 2 in the truck, you'll never have enough room, so opt for the Freightliner Condos or Volvos with big sleepers. Good luck. If you get a list of owners to talk to and need to know anything about them, send me an e-mail at cruzinusa777@hotmail.com. I spent several years there and still know a lot of owners.
