Yes, your an Owner Operator
Question:
Swift driver leasing (renting) a used Swift truck story: Young guy, not to bright. He's in the T/A truck shop bay. Reports his truck has lost power on the hills. Mechanic changes out fuel filters and hooks up the computer to the truck. 8 computer code read outs. Yes, 8.. Mechanic finally checks oil. 1/4 inch on the dipstick, 4 gallons of oil short in the truck. NO, the truck never shut down. Mechanic calls Swift for a PO. Swift says: The driver is an O/O and it's his truck, it's his problem. $$$$$ End of story... Answer: I can't even imagine the problems to be encountered if you just got your CDL recently, and on top of that you are a (supposed) owner operater at the same time. What's really sad is that when he looses that truck, someone else will get stuck with it and will pay the price for the engine being run low on oil. Swift will just keep passing in on from driver to driver. Answer: He hadn't been driving for Swift very long, had the truck for only a week and a half. He still owes $$ on his Swift driver training. The used truck was from a Swift driver trainer with a little over 200,000 miles on it. He said he checked the oil when he picked up the truck a week 1/2 earlier. Swift captures the not too bright and feeds them the: Become an independent O/O and make more money...Yup, Swift and companies like Prime, CR England tell their rental suckers their independent O/O's. Answer: It still amazes me, to see those Large Cars pulling a coolie carrier's wagon.Government Ain't YO' Friend. Nor your Servant. A Tax Reduces Incentive & Capacity. A Regulation is also a TAX.
