QUESTION ABOUT LICENSE SUSPENSION AND JOBS
Question:
While i was in trucking school over the summer i got into a accident in my car which caused 2 points to be put on my driving record no injuries just car damage the person i hit didnt even have insurance. well the bad thing is that i didnt have any insurance at the time. since than i have graduated 2 weeks ago but the dmv is telling me if i cant show proof of insurance for the accident i had back in the summer im going to get my license suspended for 90 days. i have a month to show proof of insurance and dont know what i can do. i've been on the phone all day long talking with the bmv and the state i was basically told i can get driving privileges for work purposes only but that would be up to the judge. does anybody think the judge will throw out the suspension if i tell them the situation i was in at the time maybe hey can sypathize. i really didnt have the money to get any insurance at that time. i have 2 kids my bills were backed up, we are hardly getting by .the state even paid for my cdl school. this would really be a heart breaker if i lose my license for 90 days i worked so hard to get this cdl. not only will it mess my driving record up but also the job opportunities Truck driving is my only way out im so stressed out right now .
does anybody have any suggestions or just help in general please i need all the input i can get

Answer:
You took a chance, you lost. Suck it up, do the suspension, get on with your plan. BOL

Answer:
There is no such thing as retroactive insurence. You're going to bite the bullet on that. The only hope you have is make your plea to the Judge.

I am curious and it is none of my business. Why didn't you take care of all that when it happened or atleast before you went any further in driving school. Driving records and license problems should be one of the first things a new person makes sure is in line and every thing is in order. But it looks like you let it go until school was over. School first and then fixing the license is a bad idea. If you get a 90 day suspension you may never get a truck driving job. 90 days suspension right out of school and you will be back to no experience with almost meaningless training and a poor record. If you have 2 kids as I think I read your first thing would be to get another job until the problem is over. While doing that I would also do whatever it took to get the license problem fixed as fast as possible. Make more phone calls and seek out legal advice if you can. Contact legal aid if you have no money and kids. Some times they can help for a reduced fee or no charge.
I wish there was an easy fix but I doubt there is.

Answer:

That is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. You have the nerve to whine that the other driver didn't have insurance, and then you immediately state that NEITHER DID YOU!

Hold on a sec. Let me get my violin.
Seriously. Wait here.
THEN YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN DRIVING!

How do you think the guy you hit felt? Maybe his car was his only way to work, and because of you he couldn't do his job.

No it isn't. There are other opportunities.
Seriously, I think it is best that you look for a job with LESS RESPONSIBILITY. You hit another person, point fingers, don't have the proper insurance, whine and complain that the courts ARE DOING WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO, and expect that anyone here will wave a magic wand to make it all go away?

Answer:
Does anybody know the odds of getting a job with the suspension on my driving record

Answer:
Zip, zero, nada. If you're able to get car insurance, that'll probably be higher now too. BOL

Answer:
Most companies do not want you to wait more than 1 month at the extreme most after school to start work. Your going to be 3 months. Plus you will have more than just a suspension on your license. You will have a traffic violation relating to an accident that was your fault. You'll already have 3 strikes by the time you get your license back. The chances of getting a job are very slim. You might look around for a dump truck job or some thing local to start and if your real lucky you might find one. Even then it is stil very doubtful unless you find a very generous or very ripoff company to train you.

Answer:
If you were to apply at UPS for a driving job, they would throw your app in the hopper. You need to have 3 years of clean driving to get on there.
I would forget about a career in driving.

Answer:
If you do not care enough to take proper care of your car and self, WHY would a company want you to be in theirs???

Maybe they will hire you AND give you a truck.

Answer:
There are two phrases that come to mind. "May I help you?" and "Do you want fries with that".No company will talk with you. Pick up the pieces and move on to another area. The main thing is take care of your kids.Having two kids you didn't need to drive a truck anyway.Stay home for them.

Answer:
I doubt that Prime would take him. If he was fortunate enough that they did I would jump on it in a heartbeat. Go into their company driver division and stay there a couple years. Any job you are lucky enough to get I would stay at a few years to do away with the suspension problem.
Many companies will take drivers with one suspension, 3 tickets in 3 years and 1 accident in 3 years. Those things aren't the problem. The problem is getting it during school and not being able to go to work as a trainee driver right away along with the newness of the suspension and schooling.
